(LIVE NOW) BLONDIE Sync Listen - Eat to the Beat & Autoamerican

07 Eat to the Beat
09 Accidents Never Happen
05 Die Young Stay Pretty
09 Slow Motion
11 Atomic

As perfect as this album is, the song sequencing is quite SPESHUL. "Atomic" into "Sound a Sleep" :D

I probably prefer the single version (is it?) of "Atomic" with the first verse repeated twice. Although the song is flawless in ANY form

Doesn’t that omit the intro and the instrumental bit though?

Because those are the TWO BEST BITS :disco:

Sound-A-Sleep is the album’s one misstep for me, but it would have been ok as the closer.

'Sound-A-Sleep' seems to be this album's version of 'In The Flesh', which remains one of the top five sexiest songs of all time.

what a beautiful lullaby :o

what a beautiful lullaby :o

Apparently written by Harry and Stein following 'being sick' on tour. Hmm...

You close your eyes and you will see
Micro-flashing neon lights
Open your eyes and you will see
It still looks like the same thing
Lie and wait for sleep and listen
To your heart beat too fast for sleep
Close your eyes and you will see
The sound asleep

I want to go, I want to go
I want to go down to go to sleep
Your frame of reference
Is my swimming pool

My, my swimming pool
Still looks like the China Sea
Pool to sea and finally
The sound asleep

Feel the muscles in your face
Twitch, relax, remembering
Everything that went down and will go down
I want to go down to sleep

Insomnia, no sleep disease
Petties parking, feed me please
Lie and wait for sleep and listen
To your heart beat too fast for sleep

I like to imagine a video for 'Victor' with Debbie dressed up in something akin to Kate Bush's Babooshka outfit.

Rather than the real video, where she's a Scottish widow in a shed.

"Victor" is probably the most inventive track on the album. Did not get it at first, LOVE it NOW

Anyone who doesn’t love Victor is a DAMNED FOOL

I enjoyed this so much! A really varied, breezy listen beginning to end with some very immediate highlights - only the sequencing seems off, with the two final tracks clearly belonging nearer the start/somewhere in the middle. I'd give it a strong 8 on first play.

The ordering of the songs is bizarre. It feels like they might have just picked them out of a hat.

Love seeing these reactions from first time listeners :disco:

AUTO AMERICAN AT 9:20!

I wish they’d properly reissue the Blondie catalogue. We know there’s stuff in them there vaults.

I want the single mix of Slow Motion for starters.

I'm not going to do Autoamerican right now, but I very much enjoyed that. Have fun, everyone.

Just to clarify we are using the version of Autoamerican WITH SUZY & JEFFREY (AND CALL ME)

I would heavily recommend anyone not familiar with this album going back later and listening to the cover of Bowie's 'Heroes' tacked on the end (with Robert Fripp on guitar). It's stun :disco:

AND WE'RE OFF!

will I like this album more or less than Eat to the Beat, @POP!?

It's just as varied and interesting tbh, maybe a bit less instant. I prefer Eat to the Beat, but it has my three favorite Blondie songs on one album.

"Europa" is so sinister and cinematic. Would love to have heard it as a proper song but as an intro it sets a MOOD

REALLY INTO this hot orchestral action dissolving into a computerised intro :disco:

08 Europa
