Ignoring the CHOICES of frontman Ray Caruana's leather jacket & balding up front, ponytail up back hairstyle, I do think this ballad was a genuinely good entry.

It should have won in 1989 & if it had, it'd be way better than a few of our other winners (yes, Lulu, I'm looking at YOU). Instead it joined the long, long list of UK near misses.

It possibly should have won, as 1989 wasn't a great year. But I don't think the song is great enough to overcome all those other problems. As a whole package (and that's what I'm scoring on), it's distinctly unappetising.

Rock Me is C list Eurovision for me. But at least it's fun, fitted in really well with the staging, and I'm glad Yugoslavia got a win a few years before it ceased to exist.
