Louise - Greatest Hits

If they want to do the bare minimum to mark the 30th anniversary, it would require the least organisation. Show up, wave, sing something maybe, and it's done.
And lose the "first time they've been back together since X" thrill. No way!

The WICKED WHISPERS around Mighty Hoopla last year were that Eternal were offered a slot as a four-piece, but the Sisters Grimm would only agree if Louise was lower on the bill and only joined them for a couple of songs max.

Needless to say she told them where they could shove it, it all fell apart and she did a solo slot instead. :disco:

Is this not a single gig at SHEPHERDS BUSH? not really a moneymaker surely?

So on that basis, I can only see them doing her solo show if they truly are flat broke.

I do agree that if they wanted to then they could be making money through the nostalgia festivals route and if they did want to make a proper go of it then it would be THEM headlining the gig at Shepherds Bush whether that be with or without Louise.

If Eternal did want to get back together I can GUARANTEE it would be an a lot more profitable venture than Louise’s latest shot at a music career.

The Bennetts hate Louise (and probably Kéllé too) and that's that.

If they wanted to, they'd get a tour out of a reunion and plenty of money. It's obviously not worth it for them – at the present time.

The thing is Louise has always been very open to making a reunion happen, but by all accounts they’ve stonewalled her at every turn.

Are they that much more of a draw these days than she is? I know they were huge for a couple of years but they do feel much more forgotten these days sadly (possibly due to never actually doing anything together), and while she is hardly a huge music star she must be a big enough name to be able to continually release new music and tour. Plus I guess from a tabloid/recognition point of view she is bigger than all three by far.

Not to say they’d ever support her on tour, but just in the sense that they aren’t all that much more ‘famous’ than she is.

Singly, no. As a group I would say they would sell more records and get more bums on seats on a tour with ease.

Louise as a model/celebrity are far more well known than any of the rest of them.

Fully agree they’d be able to do a bigger tour as a unit, but I wouldn’t imagine it would be big arenas like S Club or anything. I just get the feeling they’ve missed a bit of their chance to do anything big now, and given their streaming numbers I don’t think they are all that remembered outside of a very specific profile.

I would definitely say as a group musically they would still have an a lot bigger draw than Louise as a single solo artist.

I was quite shocked at the streaming numbers when I checked earlier. Other than I Wanna Be the Only One and Angel of mine which I believe was a cover they don’t have big streaming numbers at all for as big as they were in the 90’s.

I guess they've already missed The Brits, but would the MOBOs honor them? They were big domestic album sellers 4 times if you count the compilation.

Was Easther not married to Shane Lynch? Would she not have got a big whack from that divorce settlement? At that point she would have been loaded herself you would have thought though…

Totally agree with you. I guess my point was they ‘need’ her in a reunion just as much as she ‘needs’ to do one with them, yet you can imagine they would not see it that way at all :D

They did the original Angel of Mine. Monica covered it and took it to #1 in the States :o

It's recently came to my attention that the Angel of Mine songwriters also did Mel C's Never Be The Same Again.

LOL @dUb causing a stir, what a publicity Queen

I had heard that they were supposed to reunite with Louise a few years ago, but they couldn’t agree what they wanted to do, with the Bennett’s not being sold on doing festivals before touring.

Perhaps there’s been a change of heart since and we will see them in the tent at Glastonbury :disco:

As much as they don’t have big streaming numbers, I do think they would have enough good will and hits recognition from both the public and critics to have a credible run at a comeback, probably similar to (if not as big/successful as) the Sugababes.

I’d be very surprised at them showing up at a Louise gig though, other than Kelle.

I don't want to watch it, but I really hope that medley includes One, Two, Whatcha Gonna Do

Oh she sounds great. Obviously she’s no Easther but she’s given that a solid stab.

Things that aren't happening right now: Easther sitting at home watching that and thinking "I really should rock up to that Louise gig in Shepherd's Bush"

I’m trying to think of a voice more devoid of passion and soul and it’s been ten minutes and I’m still stuck

I’d even put Emma Bunton slightly ahead of her

It’s all very JAUNTY in an unreleased-Kerri-Ann album-sampler-produced-by-Mike-Stock sort of way.

I’m disappointed that she didn’t RUB IT IN by performing “I Wanna Be the Only One” (Lousie solo version).

I do love Kate Thornton, particularly when she is talking to people she has history and connection with. She’s a great journalist and interviewer.

She’s always been incredibly diplomatic and careful when talking about the Eternal split. That’s probably as close as she’s come to date to admitting she was bullied out.

Anyway I found the stuff about her being the only female pop star who Smash Hits could put on the cover without losing sales far more interesting. :disco:

I must say I do find Louise dining out on Just A Step From Heaven a BIT ODD seeing as Easther was the lead.
I know she has ever right to record her own version (essentially a cover) however she pleases, but it just feels a bit STRANGE to replace the lead vocalist of your old band.
Not that it matters anyway, as it's clearly just fan service from Louise with no harm done (aside from perhaps to Easther herself, who is probably seething).

I can't see Eternal ever reforming long-term as a 4-piece purely because it really wouldn't make any financial sense from the POV of Louise.
To suddenly have to split everything 4-ways, feeding off essentially the same audience and roughly similar-sized venues that Louise seems to be able to sell herself is just bad business sense, as much as I'd love to see it happen.
Even more is basic logistics - in that Louise clearly has the best industry contacts in 2023 and her/her team would have to do a lot of the heavy lifting to get a reunion off the ground in the first place, which again makes no sense from a business POV when Louise could just promote herself instead.

I really enjoyed that - she's always been personable and self-depreciating, but there's a lot of insight into the industry too.

And yes, clearly bullied out by the Bennetts.

Has THE BRACELET ever been explained??
