So utterly undulating. I just wish we got more of its ilk. The voice is unequal to the beats, thuds and steam-emitting synths that also tinkle down like beads of sweat, but you've just been hurled to the ground, so you'll need something to soften the blow I guess. The Paula Abdul next door was briefly Gina G's biggest threat until it was time to renew her contract (record deal and house lodging!) GALA was just around the corner - what a time to be alive if you had a Woolworths nearby.

I mean it’s a 10 and it’s far from being her only 10 :D Something about her paper thin voice and lack of charisma just seems to WORK and exceed expectations :disco:

There is only one version and its a fucking 11

I feel like we've had this thread multiple times (usually created by me), but I really must shout out the re-recorded version from last year which is such a SHIMMERING DELIGHT.

Love her always :disco:

and Heavy Love is so good - 'Hurt' I maintain is one of the best she's done

I know my ‘women over 40 who have aged well’ thread has aged like milk, but she really does look absolutely stunning these days. :disco: (Not that she ever didn’t)

Still one of the biggest surprise live performers I’ve seen. I must have seen her about six times since the ‘comeback’ and whilst she ain’t no Adele she can certainly hold her own and she puts on a great show.

Plus she seems like a fucking fabulous woman, so Louise up for me.

Just took delivery of the Naked 30th Anniversary Pink Vinyl.

It recreates the original thank you notes, and I laughed out loud at the diminishing levels of gratitude implied in this paragraph.

Becky - thanks. :)

It should have been a transatlantic smash. Should have flown her out and got her to perform it on Leeza (1993-2000).

From the moment those synths slide down like sweat down your back and the thuds commence, it's an unrelenting megaton.

Lil' Lou really said "hi gays!" here.

She was up against the first week of Killing Me Softly, the second week of Three Lions, plus Mysterious Girl and Ooh Aah... Just a Little Bit (What a time to be alive!) but yes it should have been much bigger in general.

I wonder how high it could have gone if she'd launched with it? It's such a statement single, but she was having to bounce back from the relative flop of In Walked Love...

It really is a weird era looking back. Launching with Light of My Life, and then In Walked Love, when this was waiting in the wings to launch the actual album. They’re quite lucky this managed to give her a proper (albeit hardly big selling) hit.

With Discussions and Best That You Bring on the album as well, the single choices were rather weird.
