seriously, song of the year contender alert. after the glorious escape from evil album (listen to it, everyone, it's dark, it's deadpan, it's slick, it's heaven) they return with a dash of nu disco and the opening line: you could have had me, but you wanted a daughter.

it's everything.

looking back escape from evil was my fifth favourite album of 2015 right behind susanne sundfor, tame impala, carly rae and father john misty. best year for album of the decade or what?

the male vocal is by someone called :3LON (ew) - a baltimore musician named elon battle. i love his bits.

i wonder why, do i have to make a sacrifice.

almost too perfect to not be a sample.

OOOH

I smell another pan-European concert vacation on the horizon :disco:

the new one is galapagos.

let me hold you up to the light, my love

Now that's the bloody ticket!

Unfortunately, the lead singer's current aesthetic reminds me of one of the most unpleasant people I've ever met, but obviously I'm going to have to try harder to get beyond that association.

yay! i can't stop hammering galapagos personally. i think it's taken over i drive.

that part after the first chorus that goes absolutely nowhere super noisily is amazing and then let me take you up and the synths go da-da-daaaap and i dead.

my only minor gripes are with some of the lyrics. and i'm not sure i would even mind them if they weren't so exposed as in a lyric video.
