I heard this played at about 4 gay house parties at most when it came out. So on top of it being shit I’m declaring it having no impact.

I was SO CONFUSED for a moment when her youtube channel uploaded this performance a year ago, and I thought she'd painstakingly gone to HUGE EFFORT to recreate the video for a TV performance 6 or so YEARS after the song was originally released :D

 
I still find it hateful and unrequired, our poor dear departed and always missed SOPHIE or no
 
Given that I’d rather talk about SOPHIE than THIS…

I think I’m still in shock about the whole thing and sort of still believe there’ll be another album. Why would there not be? :(

Devastatingly bad. I think it's what ruined her legacy and made her an irrelevant joke.
 
Revolver is one of her better later (still more than 10 years ago) songs. At least it has a melody I can remember
 
I'd hardly call it scraping the barrel - PC Music was new!

I do think this is going to go down as a more significant moment and a sign of her ability to pick up on trends etc. when all is said and done than it was necessarily received at the time.

Isn't this the issue though?

Madonna in her heyday was SETTING trends, not just chasing after whatever she thought was already popular / trying to bandwagon off the popularity of others in the hopes of going viral with the YOOF

She recorded it before Charli had even released Vroom Vroom! It wasn't quite so much a 4 Minutes style bandwagon jumping as properly picking something out of the ether just as it was fresh.

I’d be interested to see the trajectory of those numbers. It’s not currently in her top ten streamers, and it was very much riding on Nicki Minaj’s immense popularity at the time.

Seriously though I don’t have a major issue with the song. It’s not the abomination that many think it is (and I respect that opinion).

GAYLUV on the other hand….
