Madonna - Confessions II OUT NOW (2 Viewers)

Billboard says it isn’t the single.

Ok, stand down. It’s alright as a throwaway album track.
The problem is it wasn’t thrown away though. It’s sitting right there on an album, years in the making by one of the most legendary pop stars in music history. It should have been thrown away!

First listen and I was very nonplussed, its grown on the third listen though. A bit relieved that its not the first single, but I do like it.

omg. about to hit play on I FEEL SO FREE in glorious HQ. :disco: honest, hinged thoughts incoming...

should we have a new thread for this since it seems to be some kind of a single?

obviously the spoken parts are quite muffled - I guess intentionally? - but I love the vocal production on the sung parts.

I think the album title is a double edged sword in a way. everybody will say it's no Confessions. I'm going into it with measured expectations - hoping for a solid dance record, not top tier Madonna songs or great lyricism.

Confessions also didn't have great lyricism. from that pov some of it is quite basic. it's also just a great dance-pop album - when it tries to be deep it falls off a bit.

its an 8 with lots of room to grow - could be a great mood setter if it's track 1

I'm loving it, it's been on replay for me.

Y'all have stanned WAY worse shit than this. Stfu and eat what you're given.

I'm settling on a 7 as a standalone. She should have kept us waiting for the thud of a proper banger making impact.

1. The full five minute version in HQ is a LOT better.
2. It really is the most ridiculous Future Lovers rip off…but to be fair, as the opener, that kind of makes sense. As long as the rest forges its own path, then that works perfectly.
3. The lyrics are jarringly banal. I still find it astonishing that the woman that gave us the lyric to Drowned World is happy with “let’s drink champagne”, “let’s do it right…tonight” etc.
4. The Safety in Numbers bit is fucking FABULOUS. I wish it kicked off a little bit more after that to make more of it, though. Safety in Numbers is ENTIRELY the point right now.
5. The vocals are still fairly terrible and the slurred spoken bits could have been tidied up, but I’ll live…
6. We do not need a new thread every time she farts, thank you very much.
7. I went to a family 18th birthday party tonight with music curated by older people and the youngsters assembled sat looking bored but properly went OFF when Into The Groove came on, which was nice to see.
8. I feel like song 2 on the album needs to be the single. Or a big hitter of some sort at least.

Out of all the lead singles SINCE Hung Up, this one is easily the best.

It's more Future Lovers live than album version. I think a lot of that has to do with the I Feel Love sound.
