So they’ve announced some album listening parties in the US for next weekend! Let’s hope they follow suit over here!
 
I feel like this IS getting her another #1 album right, unless she's against anyone very current? Seems like with the promotion and versions its going to do better that RH/MX

She’s certainly releasing in a slow week in the UK. There are no obvious blocks to her getting a #1. There isn’t even a big release the week before that might have a big holdover.
 
How does the number of formats compare to Madame X?

Surely she will though. When you look at how easy it seems for a fanbase act to get to #1 in the UK at least, there really should be no excuse for her not to.

From memory, Madame X had 3 CD versions (standard, deluxe, super deluxe), the cd boxset, blue and standard cassette, picture disc, black vinyl, clear vinyl and blue vinyl. Confessions has about double this across all formats.
 
I notice on Popjustice they're having a go(again) at fans who feel her post 2005 work isn't as good as it was before that. Apparently they "aren't real fans" etc etc. I find this view really weird. As a fan since her early days, for me there was clearly a big drop-off in quality from Hard Candy onwards. Of course there were some decent songs in the latter years, but I'm always amazed by people who think her later stuff is just as good as her pre-COADF stuff. I'm not saying I think they're deluded, but...yeah.

Anyway, this is certainly a view that I and many others I know hold. I do love the Confessions II stuff so far though! What's the vibe in here?

I strongly like stuff from MDNA and Rebel Heart, but they were equally a mess. Hard Candy was a trap door for recording songs she shouldn't have gone anywhere near, but she no longer had her easy way of singing gorgeously to hold things together. MX was an improvement as far as overall execution goes, and whilst it wasn't exactly offering many standouts, the pursuit of an actual album and not a disparate jukebox of songs anyone could have done was a relief. Stuart Price clearly adores her and his productions put her back on a pedestal - this is why it is so exciting and giving a sense of an icon re-invigorated. The flashes of this were there on William Orbit's MDNA moments, but the haste in which they were required alongside the conveyor belt bops diminished the true potential. This is different.

I started skimming the interview as the interviewer seemed to be enjoying thinking he was bonding with her. No, ask her questions about the album darl.
 
The interview is pretty fascinating. The interviewer is a bit of an idiot though.

the shot with the headscarf, Deirdre Barlow glasses, crucifix necklace and PENSIVE LOOK is an absolute DELIGHT
