I remember when this leaked and Tubby Edwards had it named as Tululas Pajamas on Napster.

Randomly it feels a little bit like a lost classic these days, given its streams compared to the other ‘big ones’, how often you seem to hear it just in general etc.

Which is a shame as it’s great and certainly has one of the best hopes of going viral.

I think it being named “Music” probably doesn’t help with searching on streaming platforms since it’s such a generic word.

Like a dumbass I meant search engine. I’m getting too old for the internet I think lol

imagine making a song called Music and it's casually one of the best examples of music in your legendary career. a true event lead single. and a stone cold CLASSIC!
And the video is TOP TIER

it's also had a ton of live reinventions that always go OFF! I especially love the Reinvention Tour reinvention and the Sticky & Sweet rework. but Confessions takes the crown OBV

God, she was at the (second) peak of her powers when this came out. So cool. It still is. Mothering been mothering.

An almighty DISAPPOINTMENT after the majesty of the RoL campaign

It's the musical equivalent of ditching your Connaught cocktail evening to go a suburban Wetherspoons for a burger and pint deal.

I kind of agree with this but it was a VERY nice burger that tasted great because of the hangover from the glorious ROL era

And Don’t Tell Me was the warm chocolate brownie with mint choc chip ice cream…

The burger was full of gristle, and the meat was potentially that of a rodent

Don't Tell Me, I would have seconds

Oh but the buildup online for this era was IMMACULATE. I mean it was rumors, fake track listings (“On Eagles Wings” was always a fave fake title. Madonna doing massive promo. The livestream for the album at the Roseland Ballroom. Internet forums were at their height at the time.

It's technically a 10, but it's absolutely not in my upper echelon of Madonna classics. I could live without it happily.

I feel similarly about the album really, though when I do give it a spin, I'm reminded it's better than I think.

I love the album but prefer the album tracks to the singles really. 'Gone' is one of the best things she's done since the Millennium!

I love the song (Ali G video notwithstanding) and some of the live performances have been incredible - the infamous "twenty knee bends after 2 hours of performing" from Drowned World is incredible.

The album is great too, but it always seemed a little half baked. We'd heard lots of it before it came out and the Orbit tracks were largely no match for Ray Of Light. The Mirwaïs tracks do really pop though.

Paradise (Not For Me) is the best thing on it and, yes, should have been a single.

The album was exactly the left field stroke of pop genius the doctor ordered after ROL. Thank God we didn’t get ROL part 2. Music was light, futuristic effervescent but still had the spiritual grounding of ROL lyrically (Paradise, Gone, I Deserve It) in its more introspective moments.

I don't think it necessarily needed to be ROL Part II, but it didn't need to be Ali G either

Beautiful Stranger would have been a great direction to pursue further I think - an "evolution" rather than a re-tread of RoL.

How much of your objection really just boils down to her having Ali G in the video? :(

Actually only a little

The inane lyrics, the squelchy beats, the video game blips, the hen party aesthetic. None of it appealed.

Ali G was just the first sign for me where Madonna stopped LEADING the pack and started CHASING pop culture trends.

She’s never really done a part II has she? Every album is a new direction

I mean I find it hard to separate MDNA and Rebel Heart but I can’t really comment on them, haven’t listened to them since the year they came out… and probably never will again!
