More likely because they ran out of bikes to sell, which is what is keeping the likes of Halfords and Decathlon going. I bought one from Blacks recently (part of the same group Milletts/Blacks/GoOutdoors) even though it cost me a fiver more because the reviews on GO's customer service were so poor. Not sure why GO is facing the chop alone since it shared stock with both Milletts and Blacks.
 
Go have been struggling for a while. Rapid expansion and a business model quickly trumped by the cheaper option of Mountain Warehouse or Sports Direct.
 
To be fair, I imagine the Trafford Centre and its Titanic-themed food court will likely be bought up straight away, but a lot of the other shopping centres around the country that they own probably won't be too desirable.
 
Same for Lakeside... I wonder what will happen there? I've always liked a bit of lakey. Free parking, and all the shops you usually need. You can ignore the Essex riff raff easily enough after a while.

Bluewater was always better than Lakeside though and not that much more effort to get to.
 
Yeah they must’ve been on their last legs for a while, all the ones I’ve seen have been deserted since they grassed up their illegal staff.

I stopped going to them a couple of years ago, when suddenly they stopped doing table service. They had that weird system where you go in and are seated, then have to traipse up to the counter and order, then it's brought to your table. It used to be proper table service. I think Nando's still do that though?
 
I quite like the five guys chips, but the burgers really are pretty shocking.

I much prefer that. It means the staff tend to leave you alone and you don’t have to wait for a bill at the end or pay a service charge.
 
I enjoyed Five Guys the one time I went, but the restaurant was so clinical and full of nut dust(!).

Also way more expensive than it should be.

If I am paying at least £20 for a burger, sides and a drink (or more for an alcoholic drink) I expect some table service at least!

They still bring it to your table. Actually these days you can even order from an app at some places so don’t even have to get up at all.

I can’t say I give them much thought either way.
 
They were a real survival story of the credit crunch without ever really having anything to show for it. The WHSmith carpet twitter is still way more brilliant than the stores have ever been

I bought two 1000 piece jigsaws there a couple of days before lockdown in March, as I had no idea what would happen with work at that point. I haven’t opened them yet :bad:

I think the last time I went in was during a heatwave to get a bottle of water at a station and walked out disgusted that they had hiked up the price to £3 for a 500ml bottle.
 
I can’t STICK this shop in general and slag it off regularly. I have been known to walk in with my tail between my legs though when I am at an AIRPORT. I don’t generally travel by train.
