Mariah Carey - Here For It All (New Album Out NOW) (2 Viewers)

E=MC should have been another smash. There is no reason why the songs alone couldn't have hit in 2008. But this was the era where she became a noticeably terrible live performer. They made bad singles choices. She was not as career obsessed as she had been, as she was more focused on the Nick Cannon marriage.

It will be another strong album because she's just a consistent artist who still has impeccable writing and quality production. None of that has changed over the years. The only thing that's changed is her voice, so adapting to it will be the only real challenge. When Glitter and Charmbracelet are considered your 'low point' you know we'll be fine.

Also, I don't know what this will mean for the album but she's entered a period with the most public affection she's ever seen...ever. She's really emerged as THE cross-generational diva of choice. We haven't seen her release an album after establishing her colossal holiday legacy. "Caution" was before AIWFCIY went #1 and all that.

This is one of the most unhinged things I have ever read. :D

I echo Jark’s sentiment about Type Dangerous. It doesn’t have any replay value for me, but I thought it was fine. it’s not meant to be a melodic ballad or anything but it is a bit too deadpan for me. I know that’s the point but I’m not sure she’s capable of much more given the state of some of her performances, which is what concerns me about the album.

And KC, I’m not sure how much relevance her annual success with AIWFCIY is to this new project. The single is making zero impact on streaming, which doesn’t bode well for the album. It had a radio deal, which is helping it get some niche airplay on the R&B format. I’m not sure it’s fair to expect more success from her with the new material, but let’s be realistic.

Oh streaming and chart success will almost certainly remain minimal. I'm mainly curious to see how people may now perceive her regular career alongside her holiday career. We haven't seen how that will play out yet. I'm not sure what sounds bizarre about that.

There are FAR more bizarre discussions happening in the Divas forums right now lol.

I STAN WITH YOU FELLOW LAMB

People have been pointing that out in the comments :(

That's definitely not news. I remember during the MIAM era she posted a picture of her sitting on the stairs with her kids and her feet were clearly not small. But I dunno about "huge" either.

LOVE that but shame the biggest flop albums were skipped in terms of the clips

She could have given us a snippet of Loverboy, I Know What You Want and #Beautiful. Although I guess for a hyper-competitive Aries queen, if it wasn't a #1 smash, we don't even know her.

OK the album title and artwork had better be iconic as befits an artiste like Mimi. I'm perched.
