Mariah Carey - The Rarities OUT NOW

Her little flick through the book in her unboxing seems to confirm it's got the regular amount of text. I'm sure this was just to highlight that particular excerpt :side-eye:

I don't know the original, so I have a WAP over the idea of what is effectively a BRAND NEW MARIAH SONG WITH TURN OF THE MILLENNIUM VOCALS!!!!!

I only heard the original song for the first time last week. It seemed fairly forgettable, but I have no doubt whatsoever that Mariah will ELEVATE it into the STRATOSPHERE.

And so often chasing a #1 at this stage in someone's career ends up trashing their legacy.

Mariah is too good to chase a #1 song now. She's going for a #1 career.

That vocal is gorgeous. Stunning and just so effortless. The way she can just shift her voice is really special.

God, I love her so much.

That Imperial Era voice could sing ANYTHING. It's partly why her 90s catalogue is just so fantastic.

And this somehow makes Save The Day make much more sense. It sounds much better preceded by OHOMO (amazing acronym).

OHOMO was recorded in the Glitter era? According to what she’s posted on Twitter! What??

Seems it was intended for the the film when it was All That Glitters

I have to say, I have never been enormously into Glitter as an album. But if it turns out that Loverboy / Firecracker is a bop, and that we didn't get OHOMO for whatever reason, then I guess it will have had the makings of a better body of work than what actually came out.

Tears of joy :emoji_sob: I have missed that voice so much.

I will undoubtedly be doing my own karaoke version from my apartment window tonight when I'm stoned

Wasn't Heartbreaker supposed to be for (All That) Glitters too?

Also, dunno if it's ever been discussed, but I LOVE the 2000 version of AIWCIY

omg how spunktastic would Glitter be if it had all the outtakes, presuming they were all BANGERS. (Never Too Far can do one to be honest)

Glitter vocals are so underrated. I want an entire Glitter Rarities.

I can't agree more. It sounds really odd, but it really feels like hearing your favourite artist from twenty years ago who hasn't released anything since.

I think it's why Caution was so amazing. Instead of trying to emulate those earlier vocals (like she failed to do with MIAMTEC), she found a new way to make her current voice sound just as expressive and sensual.

I love what she did with Caution. But I miss the Imperial Era voice. It was extraterrestrially amazing.

bless you for doing the stanning God's work of making Caution seem something better than serviceable and passable!

She sounds great but god, that is one boring song

I've accepted her current vocal state - and LOVE what she did on Caution - but to have new material from her prime, or not long after in this case, is UNREAL :disco:
