Mariah Misc 2020

“Oh no, man makes suicidal tweet”

*shrug*

“Mariah’s new project is great fun, isn’t it?!”

Nick is such a victim.

In the words of Tyra Banks, “take some accountability FO YOSELF”

Every Friday, Carey will be unlocking items from her personal vault to treat fans with rarities from her remarkable career. The weekly #MC30 releases will include digital EPs, remixes, bonus cuts, rare tracks, acapella moments and mind-blowing live performances. The music will be accompanied by video footage, photos, personal notes from Mariah and physical releases.
Physical releases?

I'd love a remaster of Anytime You Need A Friend where they don't fade out on Mariah unlocking new human emotions only possible for those with 112 octaves. Seriously, if ever you needed a pick me up that song is your hurricane.

Oh I do... it’s just not coming up on her Spotify page I have to search

I'm here. She sounds better than ever (since the nineties) and I love that she's embracing her Legend STATUS. :disco:

The original screenplay for "All That Glitters" is out there. Some points from the Friends of Mariah Messageboard:
  • Mariah’s character in this version is named Angela De La Salle; “Angel” when she becomes famous. She has three siblings; a sister Christina, and two brothers, Junior and Whisper.
  • The mother is not just an alcoholic here; she is also a heroin and pill addict and much more manic.
  • This version opens in San Francisco in 1964, where the family lives. The mom sends the kids to live with their grandfather, who runs a funeral parlor in New York; and cuts to 1973-1976 for the main story.
  • “Angel” and her siblings work as morticians under their strict/religious grandfather, but eventually form a singing group called Gold Soul. Christina is the lead singer with the brothers on backup/harmony. Mariah’s character is a songwriter for the group and has the better voice, but she doesn’t like to perform publicly until later when she is forced to. She is very secretive with her songs, hiding the written lyric pages in walls. She also has a habit of writing lyrics on her legs/thighs as ideas come to her.
  • All of her siblings and grandfather die after Christina accidentally sets the house on fire in a jealous rage after it becomes clear to her that Angel is the real star.
  • Angel has recurring nightmares about her siblings, her mother, and a memory of them at the ocean. There’s a quote that says “The water is so pure and it has endless possibilities, just like music. Like my music used to be…every note so perfect.” That really stood out to me for some reason.
  • Angel is managed by Frank, a man 20+ years her senior. They eventually become romantically involved, even though he is possessive and manipulative, abusive at times, overworks her, listens in on her phone calls, and publicly criticizes her stage presence, use of hand motions when singing, musical choices, etc. Frank buys Angel a mansion with a recording studio, which she instantly hates. There is also a line where Frank tells Angela to “Spread your wings”… which seems a little too on the nose to me.
  • Angel falls in love with Troy, another artist Frank manages but eventually leaves to pursue his career as he envisions it. Troy helps Angel reconnect/reunite with her mother and gets her out of her situation with Frank. The script says their lovemaking is “an awakening for Angel who’s never been an active participant in her own pleasure.” That seemed really powerful to me, considering the sexual encounters in the script between Angel and Frank were awkward and cold.
  • Angel’s songs are mentioned throughout the script. Some of them are placeholders and just say ‘love ballad,’ ‘signature song,’ or ‘uptempo.’ But there are a few song titles that appear to be actual originals that are directly listed by name: “The Other Side of Free,” “From Just One Memory” and “Birth By Fire.” Angel also sings the gospel standard “His Eye is On the Sparrow.”
  • Lyrics for ‘Just One Memory’ are written into the script: “Catching the tail end in the wind, I'll trade you back your past, if only I can step away fast, search for the key that'll set us free, cause we both know prison wasn't meant to be, love can never anchor on just one memory.” There’s also another unnamed song with these lyrics: “Don't know 'bout my future, but I know 'bout my past. Both got me running, 'cause they heard love never lasts.”

Have we EVER heard her sing like the high note in that? It sounds so unfamiliar

The arrangement is unfamiliar, but that one note sounds similar to the one from Someday.

It's such a high belt, I dunno what it is that's throwing me off.

More morsels like this please! Don't reeeeeally give a shit about remixes

OMG All In Your Mind is top 10 Mariah. Amazing to hear that little alternative nugget. I prefer what we got but she sounds incredible.

Is there an Emancipation vinyl coming? That’s the T??

I always found All In You Mind the worst example of her over-singing for the sake of showing off.

I Want To Know What Love Is :D surely not even she remembers it
It's her biggest hit in Brazil!! Also just their biggest hit in general :D

"I Want to Know What Love Is" by Mariah Carey is the longest running number 1 (27 weeks), followed by Beyoncé's "Halo" (the most played song in the country, in 2009).

That gay went for all the wrong tracks! The worst Mariah playlist I've ever seen.

Someone out there, a rubbish gay is responsible for that.

I mean who would ever fucking have any strong feelings for I Stay In Love?
