Marina - Princess of Power + UK tour

agreed Hello Kitty is the single skip. it's not bad but giving Love + Fear. the rest continues to slay me on the daily, by far my most played album of the year to date.

Je Ne Sais Quoi is truly fabulous - those vocals at the end? ok sis, take me to the opera :disco:

Even the title track is amazing tbh. And both singles sound MUCH better when you listen to them as part of the whole thing.

Sticking this here so it doesn't get lost in the annals of "Moopy Archive"

"New" song from the Froot 10th Anniversary Edition, although a quick YouTube search suggests it leaked previously.

I can see why it didn't make the original tracklist. It's very similar to Teen Idle or something else already on there (maybe Forget?). Good though.

yeah, definitely has moments of greatness with a strong chorus but also sounds like the demo it is. seems to be a big fan fave so it's nice to have it.

Rollercoaster is a real song of the summer for me. it's so full of sunshine and her voice glides. the clash of the airy verse and chorus with the crunchy abrasive mini bridge part? incredible. love mother Merna so much.

Surprised we haven't had a UK tour announcement yet. Assumedly there will be nothing until next year, as she seems to be focusing on the US. She must still have a reasonable following there looking at the number of dates

Is it wrong that I prefer Ancient Dreams to this album? It just hasn't grabbed me. It seems like Marina by numbers?

Is this just digital? I hope so because I've just paid £9 for the CD.

I'm looking at London but hearing from multiple sources that Ally Pally is a terrible venue to see a show in! wondering whether to hold out for EU dates or...

Princess Nokia is a great support act too

Ally Pally is terrible, and a pain in the arse to get home from... but hey I ain't missing her in my city!

The deluxe songs are nice extras without being too good. KEY TO THE CASTLE isn't exactly her most adventurous songwriting but I'm into it.

I like Sex Is Power and How To Say Goodbye. The other two not as much.

You want a woman, but you can't play games with me
Na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na-na
You'll never get the key to the castle

WE'RE IN POWER MODE :disco:

I may have splurged on the ridiculous liquid filled LP version of the deluxe.

saw her last night at Ally Pally. she was wonderful, never better vocally, super setlist (would've taken more than just the title track from Froot though IF PICKY)... she got a bit teary talking about how it had taken her 18 years to fill the venue and it was her biggest ever UK/Europa headlining show. bless her.

I always get the sense she's a very fragile flower who really comes alive on stage and I hope to see her many more times in my life.

I was there too. Completely agree re Froot, and I'd even say a couple more oldies would have made the gig even better. I understand the need/desire to promote the current album but she definitely could have lost a few of the albums tracks from POP. And given it was her biggest Europe show, the crowd pleasing Hollywood, Radioactive and Heartbreaker would have been great additions too.

Had no idea she was on tour atm, would love to see her again.

luckily on the last tour I got to see her do the epic banger FORGET - I can't remember if she did Blue on my Love + Fear dates or not. I think not.

MARINA TOP 10 now loading!!

I'm clearing my diary tomorrow so I can focus on Everybody Knows I'm Sad. Just heard it for the first time. I don't know if my 2nd listening experience will match how awe struck I felt. Can't believe I've written her off all these years.
