reviews are crazy, Tommy's perf looks brilliant, and the return of GWYN surely makes this appointment viewing.
 
This is the first time I've not been dreading a movie being 3 hours long. The more Timothee the better.

(except when he's playing Bob Dylan ofc)

I haven't seen the film. Is his character extremely annoying and possibly on large amounts of cocaine?
 
box office smash in its very limited opening - bodes well for the wide opening this week

Timothée Chalamet-starring Marty Supreme by Josh Safdie served up a stellar limited opening and the highest per-screen-average of 2025, selling out 92 shows (and counting) across New York and Los Angeles, slicing into the top 10 on six screens.

It debuted to $875k and a PSA of $145.9k, the highest ever for distributor A24. The opening per screen average is also the biggest comparable since La La Land in 2016 and joins the ranks of the best limited debuts of all time.

could we adjust the thread title? the film might be ostensibly framed around ping-pong but it's definitely in no way a sports drama...
 
has anyone been to see this yet? it's on for a very impressive four day weekend of €25m in the US
 
Going tomorrow, but yes I have seen the leaked photos of the Timmy cheeks.
 
I think this is my favorite movie of 2025. I went with my parents and sister and all 4 of us loved it. And the theater was completely sold out, which I don’t think I’ve seen at my theater since Superman.
 
So this really was almost the same as Uncut Gems but with a better soundtrack and bigger budget! No problem with tha at all.
 
Hate to say it about a sports film, but five stars from me.
 
Fine enough but overlong and a BIT SILLY, like it was being made up as it went along in lieu of any substantial story to tell.

After 100 mins I was too unengaged and tempted with the thoughts of all the things I’d rather be doing on the final day of 2025, so I left. Life is short
 
It was good, but not the astonishing level I was expecting.

I thought he was very good and Gwynnie was too, though I can’t understand how blink and miss them cameos from the likes of Sandra Bernhardt got pre credit billing- she literally had two lines!
 
Bloody brilliant film - I was completely engaged throughout and I’ve finally understood the fuss about Chalamet! He’s SO good in this. First 10 for a while for me.

Yeah and our showing was the third one we tried to get that day as the first two we aimed for were sold out.
 
Having stuck £20 on Michael B Jordan this weekend, I say FINISH HIM!

I mean is the award for the movie role or for how he acts off screen
