Serious answer: vegans are against the unnecessary suffering and exploitation of animals to provide foodstuffs to humans. As humans do not actively feed wasps to flowers to create figs, they're not an issue. These "news" reports are designed to make vegans look silly.
 
If I recall when this fact blew my mind I found some vegans arguing you shouldn't eat them, but the vast majority told these people to shut up.

I've also been a bit ERR when it comes to honey. Surely humans don't coerce BEES into making honey.

It's not vegan to look after an animal??? That's fucking bonkers. I semi-get the guide dogs thing apart from the fact that, if you've ever worked with a guide dog, you'll know they absolutely love it.

I've read the honey arguments and I understand them but fundamentally disagree - the bees come to no harm and it's not like we're leaving them to starve or keeping them in conditions dissimilar to those in which they would congregate anyway. It's not like battery farming at all.
 
In OTHER NEWS I've just had an email from Uni saying we HAVE to go to a PLAY about SEXUAL CONSENT at 8pm on an evening between tomorrow and Sunday.

Fuck that. Obviously so long as it's consented to.

I became vegan earlier this year after around 10 years as a vegetarian. It kinda felt like the natural step. The dairy industry is arguably more harmful to animals than the meat industry.

this is not true.

how do you think a cow produces milk? It’s not just of its own accord. It’s like a human being. They only produce milk after having calves. So the dairy industry is basically taking milk meant for baby cows. Which are taken away from the mother when they are born.

Some people also argue about having their own chickens can be vegan but it’s not. It’s supporting an industry where they need to keep breeding chicks to have new hens but of course only female chicks are useful to them so the male ones are usually killed immediately at birth. This causes high amounts of stress for both mother and baby. The calves are usually killed for meat.

sure you might not be eating an animal when having dairy but you have involuntary contributed to the death of an animal for your pleasure.

roadkill is arguably vegan but You’ll be hard pushed to find many omnivores never mind a vegan who would eat that.

I’m not too clued up about honey as I dislike it anyway but it’s generally considered to be non-vegan.

Anyway I am not preaching as it’s your own choice and I don’t care what you put in your mouth!
 
I bloody hate HONEY. I found a jar of it in the cupboard a while ago and was like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS DOING HERE

Also it does contain the tears of murdered bees :(
 
I think I might just give up eating, it's too complicated and I'm not fussed anyway. Is water vegan?
