The Music Week sales report (stolen from Buzzjack) gave me a chuckle - if only for their taking an ENTIRELY UNNECESSARY SHOT at poor Melanie Beh :D



Chisholm’s best first week sale remains the 30,866 copies that her second album, Reason, sold on debut at No.5 in 2003, but Northern Star has outsold the rest of her output together by a margin of more than four to one. Achieving triple platinum status earlier this year, it has to-date consumption of 900,317 units. That is more than any other solo album by a Spice Girl (Geri’s Schizophonic is second with 490,819 units) but less than Spice (3,102,398 units) and Spice World (1,663,649 units). Mel B’s L.A. State Of Mind is the back marker (1,963 sales).
 
I didn't realise Northern Star had sold THAT much more than Schizophonic, I wonder if its had a (small) steady uprise over the years, as I remember it around 700/750K back in the day where as Geru has not moved from 400K /500K which is the figure I remember after it left the charts.
 
Wasn't it TigerClaw, I think, who swiftly replied that "the people who own Mel Beh's sophomore album L.A. State of Mind (Not out everywhere by the way :( ) was an exclusive club"? When it ended up charting at #500 or something ludicrous.
 
Drum Machine is streaming well. I'd like radio to pick it up. Its the best thing she's done in YEARS

I really would have thought Spice World sold more! Probably Spice too come to think of it.
 
Emotional Memory is a good track too! Discovered that track this morning. This is her best ALBAM since Northern Star I think.
 
The Sea and Melanie C were both great albums. It was only really the ones between Northern Star and The Sea that were poor. She deserves more credit.
 
Beautiful Intentions was not poor. I don't know where this ranks yet but BI and The Sea are her best works
 
Somehow I’ve heard them all and whilst I’d say she doesn’t have any start to finish great albums they could all be called good or pretty good apart from ‘Reason’ and ‘This Time’ - those two might have one or two tracks on them that I wouldn’t turn off.
 
Mel C really is the one pushing Spice Girls as they should be at the moment isn't she.

Its Geri that has taken a step even behind VB which I never thought would happen.

There's a higher chance that VB would say yes to a one-off or anything celebrating the SG than Geru at this point; but we all know nothing will happen in the end.
Oh wait, there's Funk Pops and a 30 second IG reel.
 
Poor Vanjie being cast out for the actual Mel C while all the other queens get their moment
