Melodifestivalen 2008 - Semifinal 4, Karlskrona (1 March)

HERO IS MY FAVOURITE SONG OF 2008. BAR NONE.

I'm in shock - there's nothing disappointing about that at all. This HAS to win MF 2008 AND ESC 2008.

I think I've actually got goosebumps, but that could be the air con in my office.

Not sure about Linda's effort though.

Hero is now on 24-hour loop until tomorrow.

I lagornas sken would've been MUCH better with Sarek, really.

Strömstedt's entry is completely copying a song from the 60s but I don't know WHICH.

MUST LISTEN TO HERO AGAIN :disco:

Honestly, I think Linda will be much better tomorrow night than it sounds right now.

She's getting RAVING reviews from gylleneskor.

OH MY, Linda's sounds AMAZING. :disco: Charlotte's chorus is great but the verse is lacking something, I have to say I'm much more confident about Lindas chances now.

There's something really quite old sounding about the Bengtzing song.

OK, I admit it, I succumbed.

This is sad. I've been invited out tomorrow night and I'm seriously in two minds due to MF.

I guess there's always Youtube.

Niklas - Not a big fan of it. Maybe better live. Really nothing special
Calaisa - I sort of like it.
Daniel - Another Kempe :disco: FANTASTIC. It sounds just like 'Roma' though from 2005. Will finish 7th. Sofia would have been better with it though.
Linda Bengtzing - GRACE KELLY :D I suspect this will be brilliant live..well and better than the studio. Which i DO LIKE MUCLY. YAY LINDA! I have a good feeling about the final now.
Nordman - Is it wrong to like this? And i agree with the previous statement...Sarek would have been brilliant with this.
Sibel - This is LOVELY. Will go through in some form. I suspect A.C (although i won't be shocked if it beats Linda to that final place). I hope she can pull it off live
Fronda - Rubbish. He looks nice though :horny:
Charlotte - OH MY :disco: FUCKING LOVE IT. Really is going to be a Sanna vs Charlotte Globen battle. I think Charlotte is going to come out on top though.

DTG

Charlotte and Sibel

Kiruna

Linda and Niklas

5th Nordman
6th Calaisa
7th Daniel
8th Fronda

I can't support Sibel. In any form. She'd steal some of Sanna's votes in the finals.

that Charlotte Perelli song has CHANGED MY LIFE ALREADY. Absolutely incredible in the context of this contest, i could easily imagine an American pop songstress releasing it in a non Eurovision style context

OMG Charlotte!

Linda's is the most SHAMELESS ripoff I have ever heard in my LIFE!

I love them BOTH!

Indeed. Unless something goes VERY wrong, Carola's chances of winning this contest have just been reduced to practically nothing. Two horse race now between the little ballad that could and the best pop song of the year. (based on a one minute clip :D )

Niklas - Sounds a bit like "Layla". I like it a lot, and would make a nice edition to the final line-up.

Calaisa - Quite nice, in a Dixie Chicks B-Side sort of way. The heat they're in, the strength of their song and the position they are performing in...they know they're 8th don't they :D

Daniel - I hope this can get in to the AC. Wouldn't even mind seeing it in the final! Like a new mix of "Cara Mia"

Linda Bengtzing - um. Right, well even the verse lyrics are like a DIRECT TRANSLATION of "Grace Kelly"'s verses ("I can be..., I can be..."). But the chorus is great as we all know from earlier in the week. This might be a bit of a visual mess and won't qualify as a result.

Nordman - I think this will definately be AC at worst....it is quite a rousing little football anthem almost. They are quite popular fellows...a threat of overshadowing whatever Linda will do before them.

Sibel - My God. CALM DOWN WOMAN. Almost borderline horrible, I hate being shouted at.

Fronda - Polka polka polka. Put in purely to wet the appetite for the Perelli :disco:

Charlotte - 11/10. I can also see the need for whips now.

My Personal Ranking:

1. Charlotte Perelli
2. Linda Bengtzing
3. Daniel
4. Nordman

5. Niklas Strömstedt

6. Calaisa
7. Fronda
8. Sibel

i now can't stand the Carola song! Awful screaching and oh so worthy. COME ON CARACOLA (or someone)

I was actually just thinking I really CAN'T imagine the whips at ALL! :D

I hope she doesn't overshadow the song with theatricals because she just DOESN'T need them!

Sibel really is far too shouty. I had to take my headphones off for a second to turn her down!

I'm really NOT jumping on the Carola hate bandwagon at all, but I have to say I have had NO interest in playing One Love at all since week two. It's been all about Sanna and Therese thus far. I'd LOVE to see Therese beat her at AC. She actually deserves to.

Perrelli didn't dissapoint, Sanna's gone from 'winner' to 'fucked' in just two weeks. I like Linda's, which may be a bad thing if she can't pull it off live, there's quite the difference between 'love' and 'like' and a bad vocal won't do her any favors.

I gave a lot of attention to Androla in Week 2 because of my hue fan-dom of both artists, but like you said, hadn't played it since. I then listened to all the live mp3s yesterday and had to turn it off. Like the hammiest, gammiest most pointless attempt at creating some sort of world peace anthem; visually it looked like Andreas' mum had run onto the stage to share her stage school brat's 5 minutes of fame because she couldn't trust him to "get it right" alone.

I'm doing a complete u-turn on Carola, I've been ordering lots of her old albums and actually feel quite sorry for the bitch. From the clips, I have to still stick with Sanna as the favourite though, until we've atleast seen Charlotte's performance.

I think Sanna has a big hit on her hands whether she wins or not. It'll take her to the next level as a Swedish recording artist I reckon, put her into the Shirley Clamp leagues if she has a strong album to back it up with. She doesn't really NEED the win like I think Charlotte does, she's already done herself proud. Going to Belgrade would just be a nice bonus, as I can't see her winning there.

In other words, Charlotte ALL THE WAY.

I wouldn't say so at all. It's more a case of: will the audience go for the best ballad, or the best fast pop song? Considering it looks like Sanna is the only ballad in the 10, all the ballad fans will be chanelling their votes in her direction.

I think what is going to help Linda is that it doesn't seem too demanding vocally.

I have to say, after loving the 17 second clip, I'm now not sure I'm going to love Hur Svårt Kan Det Va QUITE as much as Alla Flickor and Jag Jluger Så Bra. The verses are a bit underwhelming.

But we'll see. Jag Ljuger wasn't hugely instant for me either and now I couldn't live without it.
