Melodifestivalen 2021: Deltävling Two

Anton looks a bit rougher, more hairy than last time. Would you buy coke from this guy?

I'm not sure if I'd buy but I'm sure he'd try to sell it to me.

Great that you stand up for our fan community. The Aftonbladet Unclez are just frustrated there's not enough tabloid fillers this week!

this is the same man who berated international fans from criticising any of the heat one songs and said “when your national selections are as good as Sweden’s you can comment” :DAF:

I mean, if anything I’d say this was the stronger semi. Maybe a bit less varied than semi 1, but much more entertaining.

Scandipop on Dotter’s rehearsal: And even in today’s early rehearsal, with a lot for her to get used to, she hit every note of the intricate performance with great ease. Honestly, we can’t remember getting such clear winner vibes from a performance since Loreen returned with ‘Euphoria’ in 2012. Yeah, that.

Dotter looks fucking ace, as does Anton. Eva and Ewa will clearly be the people's princesses whether or not they qualify, and I'm starting to worry about Sami and WAHL, it feels surprisingly FLAT.

Frida, Julia and the other one also performed songs.

The dancey post-chorus bit of Little Tart is amazing. Anton's song sounds like it is comfortably his best entry but he is so offputting... that fucking wink.

Eva and Ewa are going in for the slapstick.

I do wish Wednesday reviewers would stop feeling the need to compare Melfest entries with other artists. All it does is completely show up their lack of music knowledge outside of Eurovision.

Anton Ewald - we were told The Weeknd and Katy Perry.
Little Tot - we were told Statements
Patrik Jean - we were told John Lundvik

Granted nothing we've had this year has been as bad as when one of them last year compared OVÖ to Panetoz, but still.

I don't feel Dotter's staging concept - at all. I love her and like the dancers performance but based on the snippets it's far to grayscale and run off the mill to have any chance for Dotterdam :(

And @Suomi you are right about Markus Larsson. For the last few years he's really felt like nothing more than a troll when it comes to Melfest. To the point where I feel like even if there was one week where he did genuinely like all of the songs, he'd still trash the majority of them just because that's his "USP". That's not honest journalism - it's pandering to a demographic. I just don't get why he's still doing it, and why Aftonbladet still want him doing it.

At least with Anders Nunstedt of Expressen, yes he wasn't a typical fan of Melodifestivalen, but he gave the songs a fair review - that of a music critic.

Markus Larsson seems to exist solely as the performing monkey, defecating into his hands and throwing it at all of the artists - because that's the only way he knows to make his owners happy and recieve a meal at the end of the day.

The fact that not one reviewer pointed out that Anton Ewald has literally just sent Youngblood is an indictment in itself. How could they not hear that, yet claim to be able to hear THE WEEKND?

Schlagerfesten reports that Frida was only three days away from competing with this same song in 2020. She really loves Mello but doesn’t care about performing in big arenas herself.

Frida Green does dream of making a SuRie, hoping to be able to sing in front of a small engaged audience with a live orchestra in some big cozy theatre when she’s 78.

Honestly, I feel that's ALL Larsson has ever done. To be fair, it took me a moment to pick up enough Swedish to read everything no problem but, like, his "top grade" has never been anything other than a variation of "well, if I was held at GUN POINT and I had to give you my favourite song if the week, I'dsay that one .. maybe .. but only because I have to name one".

True, and I can see how it could have been amusing for a few years. But I'm surprised the novelty hasn't worn off yet. Either for him, his paper or its readers. I find it bizarre.

Based on one Listen

1. WAHL feat. SAMI - The chorus sounds great but I wish the whole thing would have that energy
2. Dotter - Would be number one maybe if it wasn't for the truly terrible name
3. Anton - What a nice Katy Perry song

Perhaps it's my OLD EARS but I'm not quite sure I'm hearing the same "triumphant winner" Dotter song as everyone else...
Sorry to hear that :(
You shouldn't have to suffer when there's lots of possible remedies out there. Go check with your doc, there are great subsidies on hearing aids these days.

Not knowing which weekday it was, I agreed to a zoom meeting with friends of mine tonight.

So that means I'll probably put up my other laptop and hide a wireless in-ear in one of my ears and somehow watch on the side. :zombie: :D
