Elisa is arguably one of Sweden's most univocally loved schlager artists, so in theory she shouldn't encounter any issues advancing through a televote.

I’ve heard a few people say she’s a big deal in Sweden, which never squared with her consistently flopping.

I can see how Casanova was too flimsy to guarantee anyone a ticket to the final but I really liked Den Du Ar (although I acknowledge that I’m very much an army of one on that front).
 
I'm hoping she has a path to Andra Chansen, such as it is... Lisa Ajax's song being THAT dull can only help her, along with a few 10s and 12s from the older categories.

Her failures here has more to do with her complete lack of quality control and derailed sense of artistic vision following years of work for the dansband industry.

Besides Mello, Elisa has won pretty much every other televote based competition she's ever entered. She's even beat beloved nepo baby Bianca Wahlgren Ingrosso to win the Swedish version of Strictly Come Dancing. In Star of the Stars, which has never been won by a female, she beat everyone who didn't have a cock. This included JessAn, a true testament to her likeability.

That's a very unflattering cut on the dress Elisa is wearing. Maybe it's just the angle, otherwise they should think about replacing it before Saturday.

Lisa's song sounds like a stone cold bore. At least we still have My Heart Wants Me Dead.

Elisa's vocal really does have that Carlot-esque slightly yelping quality. The song sounds very much like something that Steps would consider plundering.

I need no certification now :disco:
 
Critiques of generic and unsurprising entries could be easily solved by just swapping songs around. I think Lisa Ajax could do a smashing “Heroes are Calling”, you wouldn’t be able to hear a pin drop from the intimate vocals of Samir + Viktor during “Min Melodi”, and to me Smash Into Pieces were made for “Forever Yours”

Having said that, let’s review what we were given:

1. Adam Woods- everything about this first minute makes me think about how there has been absolutely no evolution of sound for the male pop segment of this show in over 1,000 years (roughly around the time that La Camilla was born in Sweden, Africa) This will go to AC and be knocked out by a crying lass with alcoholism and a guitar

2. Samir & Viktor- everyone’s favourite lesbian duo since Mandy n Rachey return and give us absolutely nothing. However the sad melody in the chorus gives me Scandinavian feels and I am here for it.

3. Melina- i am lying on the couch

4. Elisa- I actually think she has this sewn up. It will go big in the hall after what came before, and I’m sure Elisa has something emotionally manipulative to say in her VT to seal the deal :disco:

5. Lisa Ajax- fat and angry after last time’s flop our girl Ajax is ready for revenge!!! Having killed that man who brought shame onto her perfect Melfest record, Lisa Left Eye Ajax is giving us pure vocals and a potential live birth on stage

6. Smash Into Pieces- a haunting melody, I have never listened to classical music before but I imagine it is quite close to this. It took 7 people to write this because they sat in a circle and everyone had to pass the pen around to write a new word as a bonding exercise
 
Sam n Vik honestly look like they can't be arsed, which is a shame. Well, Sam looks like he can't be arsed, Vik still has that same marbly stare that registers as fear, joy, embarrassment and shock at a surprise trump all at once. In four performances I have never seen him blink.
 
This looks fab, but I so wish it had gone to Jessica Andersson instead.

It's a bit beneath Charlotte in 2024 I think, but it'd be perfect for dear old Jess to scrape through AC with.

Something about Elisa just leaves me a bit cold TBH.
 
She didn't just get JessAn's song she also got a dress rivaling the Kalla Nätter hotpants. :(
 
I am genuinely so grateful that they've chucked Forever Young into the mix - I don't even care that Elisa isn't a particularly exciting performer or one of the schlager greats.

Surely it has been the best part of a decade since we've had some proper, unapologetic schlager in the mix. It's always been "it's basically schlager but we won't bother putting a key change in" or "it's kind of schlager but it's sung by middle-aged men" or "it's almost schlager but it could pretty much be a Smith & Thell song" (and yes at least two of these could apply to Still Young).

This feels like they're FINALLY going "sod it, let's give them what they want" and it's clearly a conscious decision considering it's allegedly been sitting on the reject pile for years.

I look forward to hearing Claire Richards wrap her foghorn vox around it in 5 years from now.

Yep, I’m a little surprised it isn’t JessAn considering she apparently did submit something. I’m a little more confident after that clip that Elisa can pull it into the top 4. Has to be good for a couple of the pensioner 12 points?
 
It’s not really SCHLAGER, though, is it? It’s just what we came to CALL schlager.

Not that I’m complaining…
