Really 1 to 8 are top drawer bangers. 9 and 10 are perfectly pleasant, 11 would be higher up with a different singer and Robin is also in the final.

I remain baffled by Sweden’s enjoyment of bewigged men with silly voices but whatever, Sanna felt like the real winner tonight.

LOL at Vilhelm crashing out again! That was a comedy performance for the ages - the facial expressions! He looked like he’d just finished strangling Cornelia Jakobs to death backstage while she was prepping for her inevitable retready comeback and decided to just run onstage in her place and wing it.

Poor Alexa the other comedy highlight of the night. The way her songwriters clearly saw the way the wind was blowing and left her ABANDONED for 20+ minutes with zero idea what was going on! I swear she thought she’d won when she actually pulled the lowest score in that first round.

Blade/ISA gave a strong vibe of having been through some rather DARK TIMES since we last encountered her. I hope she doesn’t take this too hard.

All in all, I do think this has been one of the strongest line-ups in recent memory. Melodifestivalen has been on form the past couple of years.

Still baffling that they can't squeeze even one schlager bop into such a sizeable number of songs, mind.

Country songs are the new sadboi ballad - there seems to be one per heat and they rarely go anywhere. I feel like there's much better genre diversity than a few years ago but it's strange that something the contest is so associated with is still being deliberately shuffled out.

Speaking of country vs Schlager, I must say that Ain't Today has been stuck in my head for days now. Total earworm, that one.

I was all about Juliett last night. In fact, Lilla aside I feel like yesterday was the least satisfying set of finalen/AC qualifiers of this year. Sad that I'm saying that about a semi featuring SANNA.

It's decent on record, but he looked genuinely terrifying, and the song was just too obviously Hold Me Closer redux. The similar start to the staging really didn't help in that regard.
