Mighty Hoopla 2022

What was the Sugababes set list ? Are they still pretty impeccable live?
 
I wasn't there but I feel from the plethora of stories from Moopy Legendary Legends like Robotboy, dUb and monsta that I was

And frankly that Suga set list is the very definition of "we understood the assignment"

As much as the collective homosexual experience would have shaken, cried and prolapsed over Get Sexy, About a Girl, Freedom etc.
 
I really didn't know what to expect re: Sugababes. I haven't necessarily followed the 7,000 page topics. The GH set was a pleasant surprise/ relief.

Although we were quite confused by the anus floating on screen.

The setlist was absolutely perfect. Pick your bangers and crowd pleasers and leave it at that. She didn’t touch anything post-80s, which was the right choice for a festival.

It was also the only live band I saw all weekend.

Bumping into Moopy people was my non-Sugababes-related highlight of the day! I think I got up to about 10, all fabulous :disco: but @Iguana was AWOL/hiding when I DROPPED BY
 
How did I miss everyone? I guess being on the disabled shelf didn't help!

I saw him too! We clocked eyes, glared a bit and moved on :D

And I saw cwej as well but only as we walked past, and I didn’t get to say hello. I kept catching eyes with @Ill Advised as well but I’m that weird way that you look away just as someone clocks you, so we never spoke either :D
 
Oh and it was much less muscle queen on the Saturday.

Narcissistically, I also got eyed up by some lovely bear cub types who clearly wanted destroying, so that was nice. :disco:

I had some doubts about the Sugababes but they really were brilliant, and the crowd absolutely went off for them. So happy for @dUb

Siobhan visibly holding back tears while the entire crowd sang/screamed Overload back at them was a lovely moment.
 
Gutted I missed Kim, but Jessie Ware clashed and she was truly otherworldly as well. :disco: You really have to see her live to appreciate how magnificent that voice is. (Not something you can say about everyone who performed this weekend, to put it mildly :D)
 
The 411 were terrible vocally. Seriously appalling.

I saw her last week, so I knew my priorities!
 
My ranking of the acts I caught

1. Steps
2. Sugababes
3. Jessie Ware
4. Cleopatra (truly the surprise TRIUMPH of the weekend. I about died when they wheeled out Thank ABBA for the Music :D)
5. Anastacia
6. Natalie Imbruglia
7. Louise
8. Booty Luv
9. Kate Nash
10. Smamfa Fox (But kind of iconically so. I’ll be talking about her set for years)

I sort of half watched Katy B, who seemed great but I was distracted and far away so it feels unfair to rate.
 
Well I’m sorry I didn’t get to randomly bump into a load of mopsies this weekend but apart from that it all looks like hell in a glittery sequinned basket to me :D

(I would have watched Jessie, Sugababes and Anastasia and not complained though)
 
Also not to get soppy, but hanging out with so many Moopers this weekend, and this past month in general thanks to Eurovision/The Red Wedding has been so wonderful, especially after two years of essentially being locked down in Leeds. Love you all! X
