MIGHTY HOOPLA 2026

Jesus christ at those clips Louise posted in her stories. Oh good heavens. She really came through.

This set should have been broadcast on TV or at least captured properly for the internet to froth over for all eternity.

Did anyone see Agnès’ set ? How was it? Did she actually turn up ?

Sorry but the Lily Allen album performance was PERFECT for Hoopla. Nearly everybody around me know all the words, and I didnt see the crowd shrink at all. It was mobbed! Also the Jade guest appearance slayed.

Completely agree that festival headliners should bring a hits set generally BUT this album was a pop culture moment, particularly for this crowd of gays and gals. Chef's kiss for me. I also was at the Bjork APE snoozefest a few years back, perfect example of how not to do it. I fear for the reaction to RAYE at Brighton Pride this year when she inevitably brings the latest jazzy tour set to the park. A shame when she actually has a full back cat of Pride bangers that could mix it up nicely.

Now if you want the hitz, that's what the Scissor Sisters brought on Sunday. Just fantastic. Belinda an obvious highlight and I was one of those 4 gays in the crowd that lost their shit at Kelly's One Word.

Other highlights were Agnes, Louise, Delta, Meek, Appleton & Heidi, The Burke (altho had to leave before Bad Boys to see SS) Heather Small, Perrie's Little Mix megamix, and Jane Mcdonald (not usually a fan but my God did she get the assignment with the choice of songs, and her Kylie Glastonbury Legends slot face was a joy to behold).

Extra shout for Diana Vickers joyous northern energy, 'I've got a fan ere from Hong bloody Kong', and lamenting on not making it to Mariah Carey week on X Factor before launching into All I want For Christmas on one of the hottest days of the year.

What a weekend. Now to try and make it through a day at work.

Yes! It was the same as the Koko one but still fantastic. Sadly still no Lovesongs live.
why no ‘Love Songs’? It’s potentially her biggest hit and she completely ignores it .. I’m still listening to the album daily, and Love Songs still sounds so good

I Know, so frustrating. It genuinely feels like the one song that could cross over to mainstream rather than just being gay interest.

Was it the same as Koko? She was rehearsing Limelight last week according to her Instagram (or was it iTrance? One of the two...) and that wasn't at Koko.

Well then she LIED.

I was gutted when she posted that video of her rehearsing last week as I REALLY wanted to see that.

Yeh I was not that drunk by her set so would have remembered. I also recall feeling slightly disappointed that the set was the same as Koko, but then had a word with myself, as it may be another decade before I see her again. I'll take the scraps of the same set for the second time this year ha ha.

Agnes was better than Koko for me. The crowd were loving it and it really worked in festival setting

Wished she’d bothered to come the last two times though

She phoned in Release Me as the mic didn’t seem to be on

Ranking who I saw

Agnes
Diana Vickers
Zee Machine
Scissor Sisters - excellent hit packed and guests stars galore
Liberty X - they said during that they’ve been in touch with the boys about getting back together for the 25th anniversary. Sounded really good too
Meek
Delta - I thought the sound was a bit off and it was short but still she’s a star
5ive
Cascada - crowd was HUGE - was an arse to get in early on and missed the first few songs
Bardot - don’t really know the songs that well and they were very generic but they sounded alright but dressed like cheap housewives
Alexandra Burke - only saw the first couple of songs as my group wanted to get closer for Scissor Sisters but wasn’t wowed
Perrie - just so bland and a very piss poor turnout. Less than Diana Vickers (from my angle anyway)
Jessie J - voice sounded fine but it all felt so lazy and zero production values, meh
Gareth Gates and boyband in the buff - his voice is truly awful. So weak! The rest of the band were a lot better than him. Two of them I’d like to see the front of and not just their arses

I saw 1 Kiesza song before running to Vickers. Others said she was very good

Missed Louise as everyone I was with wanted to go to the dance tent as they already saw her last year

Didn’t see the Wanted but didn’t hear good things

Lily Allen - not my thing so didn’t bother but every girl I asked about it loved it and the men just didn’t seem to care

It was the same except she added on Wake Up after Release Me at the end. No Limeline or I Trance.

Happy to hear that the crowd loved Agnes.. she’s such a brilliant Popstar, and why she’s not huge is a total mystery to me

Jane McDonald did Raye though and that looked like it went off - I’d think Raye would too - its so up and happy!

She's easily the most interesting mainstream artist right now - i'm happy for her to be mixing it up and serving out exactly what she wants to - and it's always great to have a bit where you can nip off to the bar.

I had two quite creepy/weird moments at Hoopla

Someone came up to me Saturday night at a party after Hoopla shoving their phone in my face and asking 'is this you?' showing me my own Instagram page then preceding to ask me if I had ever met a straight black man before and whether or not I would like to

They then reappeared near the end of Sunday night again, walked up to me with a sinister looking smile saying 'See you on Instagram' before disappearing again

In a less sinister moment another person who I didn't know came up to me and just said 'Same outfit as last year I see....' - erm fuck off! (but also I was in a repeat outfit)
