I remember him most from the BBC TV film The Lost Language Of Cranes, which i imagine was a significant film for many of my generation and older. And indeed the book before it, although I don’t think I had any knowledge of the book before the film.

By a BIZARRE coincidence I was just this morning watching that on the IPLAYER. I don't think I saw it at the time but I DID read the book
 
I did read the book, but remember it had the TV cover.
 
I think I remember him best from thirtysomething - if I recall correctly, he was Melissa’s younger boyfriend for a few episodes. I remember seeing The Lost Language of Cranes too - good to know it’s on the iPlayer, that could be my Sunday evening sorted.
 
The Australian actress Wendy Playfair, who played Minnie Donovan on Prisoner cell block H has died aged 99.
 


Urban Legend and Valentine are two absolute camp classics for me, pity he never got to do another big budget slasher...
