It's the most depressing time of year! I'm a big fan of the specific sub-genre of festive fare designed to SAP joy from all men - so what would be your recommendations?

This year, I've been enjoying this morsel of misery from the late Cristina:

They KILLED a tree of 97 years,
And SMOTHERED IT in lights and silver tears
:disco:

It turns around a bit at the end, but it is miserable for MOST of it

I love this too. The lyrical switch to it being about a relationship is beautiful.

:D Oh definitely this. I particularly like the angel who’s lost her wing, and hanging her from the tree becoming a PAINFUL THING :D

This was supposed to be a Christmas song, brut Siouxsie has said it didn't quite turn out how they had planned. It sounds better live (*tells audience to shush in manner that would spook Stevie Nicks*), but I think I'll post the studio version:

@Gangsta Nancy Lam she also was quite taken by Cristina, and references Things Fall Apart as part of The Creatures in this beguiling twinkle:

This huge favourite is obviously not a Christmas song, but as an after hours torch number it certainly has a wintry chill and Siouxsie's throaty drawl the flames flickering in the wind:

Divine.

Loving this Siouxsie fixation moment.

I love this genuinely quite powerful account of Prince pining after his lost love (RIP from strep throat) and drowning the pain in banana daiquiris :(

The whole album is fantastic

A truly haunting album that doesn’t rely on any standards at all and yet doesn’t drag.

December in New York is my favourite

I was going to submit “That’ll be Christmas” to ASFXMAS as it’s the funny ditty of the album but compared to moopy tastes it’s still a bit miserable so I opted against it
