Though even as a NIPPER I was confused that they kept releasing the SAME SONG with only a few minor tweaks. And Thomas was just a bit TOO MUCH.

I've grown quite fond of them, knowing full well rationally they're complete rubbish and empty calories musically and lyrically. At the end of the day most of it just makes me crack a smile, and music's about stirring some kind of emotional reaction innit etc. The commercial success they had in their day (in the German-speaking countries) is completely out of proportion vis-à-vis the quality of the music though.

I recently even got me a three-disc box set (at less than €10, mind!) which aside from the maxi versions of the singles also unearthed a few (semi-)gems like "Do You Wanna", "Lucky Guy" and "Lonely Tears in Chinatown". I discarded most of the absolutely diabolical late-'90s/early-'00s 'comeback' stuff off the iPod though Now, that's a group that (unlike Erasure/PSB) should have been firmly left in the '80s.

Yes, of course, though to a lesser extent. They had like six Number Ones in Germany, didn't they, but by the time of "Geronimo's Cadillac", Team Benelux had already pretty much fallen off the wagon.

It's always funny to see people on the Internet (usually ones from Eastern Europe) defend Dieter Bohlen as the greatest musical genius since W.A. Mozart.

I'm always amazed whenever I'm in Germany at what a staple Bohlen is in the newspapers and celebrity magazines. And always with the exact same look on his face!

Bohlen always wants to be the German Simon Cowell but he never managed. But I think he's alright these days.

And I like some of the Modern Talking songs, but Bohlen as a producers is annoying.

I only own Blue System's Body-Heat album (with the original version of "Love Suite" instead of the remix, shall have to hunt that one down on YouTube!). Such hybris to take on vocal duties himself after Thomas' departure! I do believe Diedah's HOT CROW VOX verses must genuinely be the very worst vocals ever committed to a mainstream chart record Thank fuck he still had the sense to outsource the choruses to anonymous session singers.

And I know most Bohlen stuff is very similar, but "Love Suite" is actually the IDENTICAL SAME chorus as C.C. Catch' "Baby I Need Your Love", isn't it?
