Oh yes! Though I slightly prefer the 1985 Discotheken-smash of the same title by wide-eyed hopeful ROXANNE, AKA a more downmarket Sandra with the same producers as Bad Boys Blue. You'd think those would be credentials enough for a German chart hit in 1985, alas it never came to pass :(

She even outdid herself with the follow-up "Boys in Black Cars"! :disco:

I do believe Diedah's HOT CROW VOX verses must genuinely be the very worst vocals ever committed to a mainstream chart record :D

IKR! APPALLING!

Actually, I forgot Blue System's 'Nobody Makes Me Crazy (Like You Do)' :disco:

9. Modern Talking - Cheri, Cheri Lady
10. Sweet Connection - Need Your Passion

oh dear, i really need to investigate. my rather limited knowledge of german music renders this top ten:

01 the model - kraftwerk
02 hi hi hi - sandra
03 rivers of babylon - boney m
04 atlantis is calling - modern talking
05 strangers by night - cc catch
06 rasputin - boney m
07 daylight in your eyes - no angels
08 hiroshima - sandra
09 taken by a stranger - lena
10 friday night - arabesque

this turn of events has reminded me of things well forgotten like tic tac toe (hey mr wichtig?), the kelly family, die fantastichen vier and sabrina setlur

i adore hi hi hi. i always used to think she sang "waiting in motion" back in the day. i played paintings in yellow to death when i was a kid but it was a performance of hi hi hi during my formative years by a drag queen in a blue bathing suit with a big rubber duck around her waist and a green wig that sealed the deal.

The only names I recognise in this thread are Propaganda and Kraftwerk both of whom I like. Oh Germany. I'll have to do some digging.

I've taken delivery of one of those "Original Album Series" things of Modern Talking's first 4 and then "In The Garden of Venus". I've quite happily listened to the whole lot in one sitting whilst sorting the flat out today and you know, I knew the hits and that they were famed for releasing identikit versions but FUCK ME, EVERY SINGLE SONG IS ENTIRELY THE SAME. It's either the biggest stroke of genius ever or the Germans really are FUCKING STUPID...

I'm NOT COMPLAININ'. I quite ENJOYED it. It was a bit like being given a NEVERENDING PRETZEL OF 80S EURODISCO JOY.

It's not like the whole ROBIN S and KYM SIMS second single fandangos, NO NO NO...

No 'Romantic Warriors' with that really quite special pony cover? I thought it all went a bit off cock with 'In The Garden Of Venus' but 'Romantic Warriors', 'Charlene', 'Operator Gimme 609' and 'Jet Airliner' are all FABULOUS

Quite honestly I'd have been gutted if they'd ever diversified. Same thing over and over again please :disco:

I've often wondered whether they thought that their album covers were genuinely good or whether it was some sort of in-joke and they got the cleaner at Hansa to throw them together

Also, I see from Wikipedia that Thomas was credited with PIANO :eyes:

LOOK WHAT I'VE FOUND :disco: :disco: :disco:

I recently had a surprisingly jolly evening YouTubing "The Dieter Bohlen Story", documenting every single thing the mulleted one has ever written or produced the past 35 years. I was blissfully unaware of his Eurodance streak under various anonymous projects in the mid-'90s - seek out the baffling "Short Dick Man" rewrite "Dicky Down" by Major T. at your own peril!

Mr W's RANDOM RUBBISH GENERATOR just brought us this SULTRY BOHLEN GEM

WHO EVEN KNEW?

It's QUITE INEXPLICABLE yet STRANGELY WONDROUS in a SLIGHTLY DISTURBING way

What is going on with those TEARFUL WOMEN in the STRANGE ORANGE PLASTIC RESTRAINING DEVICES? Are they being SUBJECTED to their ultimate WUNSCH with WASHABLE OVERALLS just in case of 'accidents'?

Returning to this much-loved and very popular video, why is hardly anyone in the audience clapping? I thought it was COMPULSORY FOR GERMANS! Also, I bet the cunt in the mustard actually refused to shake Bertie's hand. Hopefully she's DEAD NOW

Is it Engle who likes nothing more than delving deep into a YOUNG BOY'S BUM or am I thinking of Johnny Mathis?

It's Johnny Mathis. I mean look at the knitwear.

For NO APPARENT REASON I can't get enough of "Geronimo's Cadillac" at the moment...JUST SO YOU KNOW :disco:

have i ever mentioned this story? i went on a couple of dates with a cab driver when i was a teen back in my home town pre-the internet when i'd only ever known (well suspected) about the existence of three gay men in the real world. he had dyed blond hair, a face only a mother could love and would only ever listen to modern talking in the car.

maybe that's where it all went wrong.

I was in a hot dog place in Andorra a few months ago and the TV was just showing a loop of Modern Talking videos. Very strange.

Well I think it’s about time for an exquisite selection of Modern Talking album tracks and I think poor @ameraal deserves a very special treat after all he’s been through this evening :(

EINS - I’m QWALIFIED FOR LOVE :disco:

ZWEI - Let me be your LOVER you are UNDERCOVER :disco:

DREI - Tears of love will MAKE ME SAD :(

And here’s a BEAUTIFUL PICTURE :disco:

Modern Talking ALBUM tracks?:agog:

I think I went through an album or two and there was literally nothing good except the singles.

 How can there be nothing good except the singles if all the songs sound EXACTLY THE SAME?

For God’s sake someone BAN HIM NOW!

And also they did have quite the line in stunning and very stirring BALLARDS. Usually in the same track position on each album so as not to upset the easily bewildered :side-eye:

Here’s one which EVERYONE LOVES :disco:
