I know it's what most people do, but I'm working every day this week, which I've never done since I began teaching. Three different schools. I feel dead already.

Finally some sunshine!

And I only woke 25 minutes ago. This is the latest I've slept for over a year.

We're off to find pastries and go to Greenwich.

Just bought a big box of PENS online.

I've put off doing my expenses for months and now I'm scrambling through my pockets, drawers and files for crumpled receipts and photos thereof :Lundvik:

Southern electric have cut through an electric cable with a jack hammer, knocking all the electric out in parts of Cowes high st. Meaning we've had no electricity in the shop since 10am and we've had to close 😭

The one nice weather day of the month when we hoped we might actually be busy and the bastards cut the electric.

Heard a story today about a friend of a friend from my work colleague. This friend of a friend went to Turkey for a breast reduction last month, everything went well, she stayed there for a fortnight then returned home. She'd been back a few days and the incision site was getting itchy and going a bit red so she went to the GP who referred her to the local hospital ambulatory care unit. They did some tests, there was a little infection so they put her under, cleaned it out and stitched her back up. The consultant came round to speak to her before she was discharged the next morning, explained what they'd done, said it probably wasn't the Turkish surgeon's fault because they'd done a really good job and they didn't envisage any more problems now. He then asked did she know that she only had one kidney now? She insisted that she had two kidneys so he pointed to an extra incision on one side and told her that her kidney had been removed, probably while she was under the anaesthetic for the breast reduction. The position of the incision was such that somebody without medical expertise would assume it was to do with the breast reduction. Our police got in touch with Turkish police in the area she'd had it done and they were aware of several cases just like this but when they'd gone to the clinic last week it was cleared out.

It's like the old "waking up in a bathful of ice with a kidney missing" urban myth.

WHAT!

Mr Star's friend, his wife, we'll call her Sandy.

Well Sandy has this friend who she's been PT-ing to online, she's met her once or twice over the past year. The friend has said she's getting married in Greece next year. She's invited Sandy and the family (4 of them) to the wedding. Bit strange as Sandy doesn't really know them.
Now she's asked Sandy's daughter to be bridesmaid and sent a load of links for her to choose a dress. And then she's going to pay for Sandy and family to attend the wedding - flights, private villa.
I think Sandy needs to read Floppet's story as I'm not sure they're going to come back with two kidneys.

@jyxz what's the difference between a kindle and a paperwhite? And why do some have adverts and some don't?

Wait Google has Informed me of the differences. The most important being the paperwhite is water resistant.

I'm confused by the adverts tho

I've not used my kindle for years, but it didn't have adverts - I'm not sure if you could even get them with adverts then. But I THINK if you do get one with adverts they are at the bottom of the page and screensaver etc, they don't pop up when you're reading. So not as intrusive as they could be, but I'd personally still pay the twenty quid or whatever it is to avoid them.

As in they're at the bottom of the page while you're reading? So could annoy me? As a screensaver I don't mind. But I don't want anything distracting me.

I just get recommendations as a screensaver. Usually for books I’ve already read 🤷‍♀️

Ok recommendations of books I don't mind. As long as it's not adverts for washing liquid and Tampax etc.

Goodness gracious at this grisly tale :D :eyes:

Tampax I can’t comment on although I hear they do a lovely steak and kidney
