Yo.

Feels like a very Mondayish Monday. Grey. Everyone's really cheesed off at the world and there's a quiet seethe to the room.

Still. I get to pick up my new effects processing unit today. NOISE.
 
God I love a bank holiday :disco:

Although I’m up early and in the gum clinic so I really can’t feel quite so smug :D
 
I have the dentist on Wednesday. It's just the hygienist so it won't be painful and I get a wee lie in too.
 
Our office is quiet too. It’s not a bank holiday in Scotland today but loads of people have taken it off anyway. I could have but I’m away on holiday on Friday so didn’t seem much point.
 
Delivery driver from AO brought my new grill at 7.25 this morning. I opened the front door, he looked at me and apologised for being so early (joys of living three miles down the motorway from their distribution centre) because my hair was everywhere and my vocal cords will take a couple of days to recover from last night's karaoke (I was slightly hungover) so his signature pad received a series of jagged lines as I wasn't even sure of my name yet.
 
There's been a very heavy fog this morning which is only just beginning to burn off. It's nearly autumn :disco:

I got woken by about 100 foghorns at 7am today. There's still some going off now and I can only just see glimpses of the mainland.
 
I've only just noticed that untitled is now only a guest. Did he ask to be destroyed? :(
 
How do get to be destroyed? That sounds harsh.

I think after 10 years of ownership, I may need to take heathcliff to the vet. I think he may have a mouth issue.

Obviously I've convinced myself he's going to die.

Last week when he purred heavily he was kind of sniffling and choking. That went on for 2 days and then stopped. But now he's not eating his biscuits as much as usual. It could be the hot weather. He seems fine in himself.

10. He has been to the vet as a kitten for various things. And I took him 4 years ago for a health check. I'm a bad pet owner but he's so terrified of going out I only take him if I have to.
 
One of our old cats used to make a sort of snorting noise occasionally when she purred. I thought it was some sort of sleep apnoea at first. The vet wasn't particularly concerned though, and it never caused a problem.

We don't have insurance, but they are all on a plan where they get two health checks a year, and they were due this month, so we ought to take them up soon, really.

He goes out into the hallway but we have our own corridor that no one comes in to. If the other door opens into the rest of the building he is terrified and runs back into our flat.

Ah we well that plan at my work. It's a good thing to have.

I do have heathcliff insured but I'm not sure why really as I don't pay for any vet time and all meds are massively discounted.

Hmm I'm guessing if he had toothache he would be weird when he eats but he doesn't seem to be.
 
Its surprising (well, probably not) how keeping them as indoor cats makes them so timid, isn't it? Probably even more so because we rarely have other people into the house, so anything unusual really freaks them out. We've had two BT broadband engineers in the house in the last few days (five days and still not working btw BT), and it really freaked two of them out.

Even now Mr L is mowing the lawn out the front and the sound has driven one of them under the bed cowering in fear.

Isn't it! I had no idea indoor cats were so shy. Heathcliff is weirdly terrified of rain despite never feeling a rain drop in his life. He also hates most people apart from me, Mandy and my mum. But I wouldn't change and have an outdoor cat because of it as the benefits of indoor outweigh the negatives.

Although it's sad yours seem scared, it's nice to know heathcliff isn't a freak and that yours are just as scared of everything.
 
They do usually recover to varying degrees. I think Freddie is just a slightly neurotic cat, though.

Cats are strange little things. My next kitten will be taken to work with me regularly and will be made to get used to travelling and going in his carrier.

Aren't you top floor in your building? Usually the hottest place in summer. It's remarkable how much cooler it is downstairs in our house.
 
Can you see the sea from anywhere in your flat, Rachey? I can remember you're relatively close and I think on a hill.

Yep top floor. part of the flat is in the old section of the building so it's nice and cool...but it's only the hallway, bathroom and rabbit room.

And yes we have a lovely sea view from our kitchen. There's a lot of yachts in the solent.
 
Oh HONESTLY Jean if it wasn't bad enough having those QUEERS at NUMBER 65 and those BUNGALOWS that have been converted to house the PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY DISABLED, do you know who's moving it to KEN's old place at number 30, you know the house that that MUSLAMIC FAMILY were renting? We've got a new neighbour next door as well. A middle aged woman who has relocated from Slough or somewhere unspeakable. I've limited myself to smiling while pretending to be listening to something on my headphones, but now Mr L has made the fatal mistake of talking to her while he was outside tidying up the garden. Now she wants to meet us properly :evil:
 
And I'll bet she'll want me to trim that bloody pyracantha

What do Lidl do with all the Pasteis de Nata left over at the end of the day? Do the staff go on some undignified grabbing spree (featuring screaming and biting :disco:) or do they just stick their head in the hole and get troughing?

I’m sure I’ve seen hair in those plastic self-service bins and it certainly wasn’t MINE
