I befriended a Norwegian director to get my hands on the ridiculously obscure horror film he made which was never released in the UK, and today it arrived! It’s the most effort I’ve ever put in to watching something I don’t even think I’ll like very much.
 
Just done an online food shop for the first time in nearly 4 years. Mercifully, this is a little bit easier than it was back in March/April and it's coming tomorrow evening.

I've been meaning to recommend you a Danish one from the 90s, Sidste Time. it's very good, well at least it was at the time through the eyes of an 8 year old. the one who gets caramelized to death on a stovetop is a particular highlight...

The one thing I absolutely have never got on board with is an online food shop. Obviously, needs must for you right now, of course.

Oh shit, I’ve looked at that one before but it’s a bugger to get over here. Mind you, I couldn’t find it when I was in Copenhagen either...
If you’ve any idea where I can lay hands to it I’d be much obliged!

The film I got is Christmas Cruelty. It’s basically just a load of violent set pieces but the director’s a nice bloke and I’m on a mission to watch as many Christmas horrors as I can.

Oh, same. I recognise my privilege of being able-bodied and of being in a living/working situation where I have shops within a reasonable walking distance which renders it a "luxury" to me. whereas for others it has become a very real lifeline to decent, healthy food. I know a couple of people who were presented with a very serious problem during lockdown as the delivery slots disappeared for weeks and weeks.

I didn't enter my zoom meeting to this as planned. Unfortunately by the time I arrived someone was already blethering on about overdoses, so with a sense of tact and diplomacy I seldom show, I considered it inappropriate.

Singing it in my head for the duration, obvs.
 
I actually can't cope at work today. AT LEAST once a week my boss will tell me her e-mail account is down, or not working, or an e-mail has disappeared, and every time, WITHOUT FAIL, I will find the e-mail on her computer within about 6 seconds, and this will be met with 'Well it wasn't there a minute ago', when, OF COURSE IT WAS.
 
I do click and collect shopping these days (too expensive to have delivery every week). Honestly it's a game changer. By 9:20am I'll be home with the shopping done. Otherwise it takes up the whole morning getting out to the shops.
 
I had to BRAVE Asda this morning and it was PACKED.
 
I've had a lovely morning. Went for a nice 5 mile walk, then popped in to work and got given a plant. But then came home and watched a live feed funeral of a work colleague :(

I'm planning to go to my dad's in Norway between Christmas and NYE, I'll make a note and watch it with him!

I could probably easily get hands on a copy for you through private sale if you're interested, and I'll ship it over. you might wanna check out Mørkeleg (same director) and Nattevagten (the original Danish version) while we're at it

I’ve tried to find Morkeleg recently and, just like every film ever, it isn’t available via Amazon UK.
If you could find Sidste Time that would be amazing, let me know and I’ll sort the money out etc.

I actually don’t know if Christmas Cruelty is any more available in Norway than it is here. The director told me it was only really released on one, now-defunct streaming service. There’s another Norwegian Christmas horror called Juleblod which is a lot easier to get hold of.

I just watched the trailer for Juleblod, it's from the same part of Norway my dad hails from. the dialect is so wrong yet so right for a slasher :D

I'll browse the resale shops whenever I pass them. 1k up front tho x

I don’t recall ever doing a nativity play which is odd because obviously I was in ALL THE SHOWS.
 
I got to be the Inn-Keeper. which was fun, cos my brother was Joseph which means I basically got to tell him to fuck off and then take the piss by putting him and his annoying missus in a shit-strewn stable. Bloody immigrants.
