the typhoon was making the rest of its way across Japan today, including the bit I’ve taken a trip to, so I diverted my plan from Nikko to what I thought was like the Slough of Japan.

BUT I found a fascinating kind of… quarry? It’s sort of a hollowed-out mountain, but it’s been mined out for stone, cut out block by block, so it’s this massive sort of stadium-sized series of squarish caves.

and you’ll never guess who did a concert there!
