MOOPY I AM HAPPY.

Just got off the phone with my biggest client, who I think I mentioned last week had gone out to tender and asked me to reduce pricing and I said "No, you want quality, this is what it costs and the competitors offering a lot lower do not understand the level of stuff you do and, besides, ethically, I refuse to be one of those companies who push down linguists' pricing just to win a contract and will always pay fair and ethical rates."

They loved what I said, agree entirely and will not only be moving forward with my company but will be giving me loads more work. I am over the fucking moon. *climbs down off ledge*

Oooh this is a successful way to start your week! I love it for you!

My Monday is a very busy one, but I supposed it’s best to be launched into the chaos?

On the way to Manchester for my eye surgery - can't wait to get this over with. They've booked me a hotel for an overnight stay, but I also have an open return so will just come back tonight if I'm feeling up to it. Also my change at Preston was cut short due to a slight delay so I couldn't have a leisurely trip to YOU KNOW WHERE :(

Week off

Off to Gloucester to look around the discount shopping outlet, and be as disappointed as every other time I've visited :disco:
Gloucester consistently disappointing since Roman times.
I was there on Saturday it was hellishly busy.

Good luck friend!

I'm having apple tart for breakfast and then I'm off to recruit some students.

I may wrap myself in a throw this eve and drink tea.

There's no way I'm doing town centre shopping, or going anywhere near it on a weekend until next year. It was awful in Bristol two weeks ago. I imagine next weekend will probably be the worst, considering it'll be the weekend after pay day for most people.

This is where working in the town centre can be useful; I can nip in and nab a few things at lunchtime or even after work. Mind you, with all the closures, it's a lot less useful than it used to be.

Somebody’s sent a mass email via Teams to every staff member at work (over 10,000) and a pied piper boomer has replied all with “please remove me from this mailing list” and now they’re all doing it. HELL!

:nononono:
LOVE when this happens, particularly a few messages in when someone (usually a woman named Deborah or similar) starts replying angrily to all the emails and telling people to stop replying, while also keeping it going :disco:

I’m dealing with frustrating colleagues today who all seem to think they’re politicians. Just can’t get a straight answer out of anyone.

I’ll just FIGURE IT OUT MYSELF THEN

My mum went shopping in Bath on Saturday and hated every second of it because it was so busy.

So yesterday they went to the shopping centre in Cribbs Causeway 🤷🏻‍♀️

Is she staying up this way?

Bath is always rammed every Saturday because of the tourists. Bristol on a normal Saturday isn't so bad.

She was staying at Wooky Hole and met up with my niece who is at uni in Bath. She loved Wells the most I think.

Wells is lovely. I mean there's fuck all there really, but it's beautiful. We often combine it with Glastonbury and the outlet village in Street as an easy day trip.

Might do that on Friday, thinking about it...

I noticed the other day I couldn't read something from a distance. This has never happened before.

Did it all go OK though?
It did! Although the surgeon nearly did the wrong eye, and was about to pour ethanol onto the one that HADN'T been anaesthetised before I told him  I now have a 'bandage' contact lens in place while the eye heals, and I have an appointment on Friday morning (in Glasgow not Manchester this time :tongueout:) to get that removed. Also three different types of drops, with quite strict timings and instructions for when to use them... I think the first week will be tricky then it'll get a lot easier.

I've somehow never been to Glastonbury!
It's not particularly worth a special trip, unless you've got a fetish for middle class and middle aged people or young trustafarians who look dirty and smell of patchouli oil. Or if you're looking to buy crystals or hemp products.

Yeah none of that appeals to me :D

I’ve just looked at the weather and it’s going to be below freezing for the next week.

:AJUnimpressed:

I currently get into bed before 9 and read with a candle on and generally chill the fuck out. It’s glorious.
