It felt like a normal Saturday rather than a Monday, which may have been part of it. But all the pubs having people outside looking miserable as fuck added a layer that isn't normally there too.

I've also been out in Glasgow today, and I am not jealous of the people sat outside the pubs at all. I'll wait til the weather is better.
The queues outside some shops were insane, but H&M was surprisingly quiet and it felt so good to buy some clothes again. And thank god for stretchy denim hiding a MULTITUDE of lockdown sins.

I'm absolutely fine with freezing my tits off in a beer garden. To be honest I used to do it half the time even when pubs are open, I prefer the cold rather than a sweaty pit box that a Saturday night pub can be.

Today I discovered how things at work are going to be in the future when I received a passive-aggressive email from the boss's niece who's been given the job I was supposed to be doing eventually because she's shite at actual accounting work. So tonight I've been trawling job sites for the first time in seventeen years. Such a shame because I love working there and up until a month ago I was sure that I'd be there till I retired or the company shut down.

She emailed me an authentication code (2 letters and 6 numbers) from a client and asked me to input it on HMRC. It's something that takes 30 seconds to do, much less than the time it took her to scan in the letter, attach the scan to an email to me and type it out. I did it anyway then emailed her back:
It wasn’t really for me as Boss had requested it. I’ve put the code in online so you don’t have to do anything with it but for future reference all you have to do with these is log into HMRC, choose Authorise Client from under the main menu, click “XX request(s) awaiting entry of code” then choose “enter authorisation code” next to whichever one it is and enter it.
She then sent a reply:
Thanks for that, as I’m now receiving Boss’s emails and attempting to answer most of them, also doing the day to day books & creating invoices plus my payroll, VAT’S and also a couple of year end accounts for the end of this week, anything I can possibly pass on I’m afraid I am doing, you mentioned you were doing AAA contractors hence why I sent it to you..
The smiley face at the end really pissed me off in addition to the fact that I've been doing all of those things and more for the past seventeen years in addition to my own work whenever Boss goes on holiday (10 weeks+ a year before Covid) so I know how little extra there is to do, an hour or so a day maximum. She's just a lazy cow.
My final reply to her just said:
I do AAA Contractors’ VAT but that was for AAA Building Contractors which is a different company. I wasn’t being funny with you, or casting aspersions about your workload, I was just saying that whoever received the code from the client usually just plumbs it in to HMRC and told you how to do it in case you didn’t know. But I know now.
It's such a little thing but it's in a long line of little things. It feels embarrassing that I have to take orders from her when she's only been there 18 months, has no clue how we do things, can't be arsed doing the mundane day to day stuff and the boss has given her what was always supposed to have been my sodding job when she started retiring! When the boss told me about this role-change she framed it that she wanted to keep me doing what I do because "you have a unique way of problem solving, you think your way around problems and come up with solutions so I know I can leave you to get on with things and know they'll get done.". That sounds very hollow now I've seen it in action. As I'm mostly still working from home she's also taken my office and in future I will have to work in the main office with two other staff and their shite music on the radio.
