Good morning.

I got a phone call late last night from my Shannon’s partner to let me know I am now a Nonna. Both mama and baby boy are doing great and are getting home later today when I can finally meet the little prince. 💚
 
It's actually quite FRESH and BRIGHT here. And that's not my brain.
 
We are so blessed to have two sets of grandparents that are very involved with Ron Jr, I've got mates whos parents just aren't interested and it's heartbreaking.
 
We've had a bloody FIRE ALARM. I did NOT need the intrusion into my time.
 
It's beautiful in Brighton, quite hot on the seafront, directly in the sun. Long may this October sunshine continue this week.

It's so amazing. Lovely people, clean city, lovely parks, nice architecture, good museums.

Not a fan of those cinnamon bun things tho. I don't get the appeal. And also, it isn't cheap, but then not many cities are.
 
It's a long time since I've been, but other than alcohol I thought Stockholm was very similar to London in terms of prices.

Actually we've found alcohol in the alcohol shops pretty cheap. But it did take us a while to work out you can't buy alcohol in normal supermarkets.

I'm obviously not used to city prices so everything is expensive to me.
 
Stockholm used to be absolutely insanely expensive, but the Swedish kronor vs GBP has meant it's a lot better nowadays. (And RIP OFF BRITAIN, etc. etc.). Like Lolly said, it's more or less London prices. It used to be closer to Switzerland...
 
Also, Stockholm is the one place that I really notice the difference between being there in summer and winter. Completely different places. Both with their unique joys.

We said it would be lovely to come in the summer. We've walked past so many bars and restaurants with lovely outdoor areas that are completely empty at the moment.

The Swedes have so little summer they embrace it wholeheartedly and EVERYTHING moves outdoors. It's a really interesting way of life- they spend two months doing all they can outside and then shut up for winter. I still remain amazed at how quiet central Stockholm is on a February evening.
 
Not Stockholm related: Been for a chest X-ray, went out for lunch, mowed the lawn and took in the garden furniture (sad). Productive for a sunny Monday.

Still not taught a lesson since term began. Had a shift cancelled two weeks ago and another tomorrow. I literally have NO INCOME :(

The whole city is fairly quiet at the moment, we've been really surprised. I assumed it would be busy like London is all year.

Do they only get a couple of months of decent weather?

More or less. It's also the darkness. Although Stockholm is nowhere near as much as northern Sweden, there isn't much winter light (like from 9am to 3pm ish) so they very much make the most of it in summer when it's the reverse. It can also be VERY cold, though not quite as bad in recent years. I've been there in -10 before.

I forgot about the darkness.

We've just been to the ice bar, -7 and I lasted ten minutes before having to leave. I am not built for below freezing temperatures.

Id definitely like to come back and visit other areas tho.

When I did a winter in LES ALPS we had a night that was -20

Although it was that still, dry and clear it really didn't feel it. It was very odd.

I have been to Stockholm once for work. In February. DEPRESSING.
