this is not how elections work though is it. how ridiculous. noting that we need elections does not mean a person would be a good candidate themselves or oblige them to stand.
 
We are an AGEING forum, we've probably lost more posters over the last couple of years than we've gained, and the 'xxx days since the last WE NEED TO HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT MOOPY board' is ticking over quite nicely.

Zen has, entirely fairly, not discussed his reasons for stepping down. But to suggest that the only reason he is doing so is because we're now holding elections is a just a bit silly. Yes, it gave a defined exit point and it may have accelerated it a bit, but if he doesn't want to be an admin anymore then that would have happened eventually anyway.

The election process is a catalyst but not the reason. There is nothing bad about holding an election.
 
It would be nice to see one of the newer people be a mod to have that perspective on the team - we’ve gained a handful of really good moopers in the last couple of years. Modding isn’t too taxing as long as there’s enough and a good variety.

RJN joining last time was great but he isn’t around much these days, not sure if he’ll stand again.

Hello moopy. I've decided to throw my hat in the ring after all. This ship needs steadying, and I think I have what it takes.

A VOTE FOR BIG RON IS A VOTE FOR...

I've been here long enough to know how it works. I've been a mod for a while, and lets face it, this is the natural conclusion of a 20-year campaign asking you to VOTE BIG RON.

In terms of the technical load, I've managed to keep a magazine website that gets a million visitors a year up and running almost single-handedly for 7 years. Bonus fun fact: I was once the admin of a now-defunct pill head forum after I went to a party at the owner's house, popped on his computer and updated my privileges, so I know how the back ends tend to work. I'm no giraffe, but I'm sure I can help Indie and Kate with the knowledge I do have.

In the interest of fairness, I've reopened this thread in case anyone else wants to run, and I'll let one of the other mods take over when it comes to voting etc etc.

VOTE FOR MOOPY. VOTE BIG RON.
 
Also some real life stuff might mean there is a bit of a delay on all of this from all the modmin team but we haven't forgotten it.
