The rules seem like they only matter to the people who have the special traits, so don't get overly worried about them is my suggestion. Until they cause you to accidentally die, I mean.

I guess they come into play once certain information is out there. I don't quite get the guardian angels. I think they REVIVE and PROTECT. Villagers and Mafia also have Poison.

I would like to reveal myself as the the villager with the POISON and I'm using it tonight.

So if you (villagers) decide to kill me it'll be a bit of a waste as I'll be killing someone I suspect is mafia regardless, and If I'm wrong, then I die anyway.

Here we see that @dmlaw knows my time zone. I truly believe he would see making me mafia as not accounting for my handicap in the game. HOWEVER, it would weird too obvious to make both new players villagers.

SO: I am not mafia, but @ZenGiraffe likely is

Actually, neither could I for a bit. It came back when I hit refresh. Presumably it's something to do with the live threads function.
 
There's also a vilkager with a dark secret, which becomes messy if they die, so should be protected by a guardian angel, if I'm reading this right.

Why would you differentiate yourself (villagers) if you were not MAFIA? :o

One angle can choose a single player to protect throughout the game, the other gets to blindly choose to protect one person on one night. That's how I read it and I'm almost key stage 3 so my comprehension is mint.

It is, apparently, 1930s Germany. :side-eye: It is also a cold February evening in the village of STATEMENTS. The residents, for reasons best not explained, have gathered in the local morgue. They find a message in the middle of the pathologist’s table saying, ‘Look in the drawer, LOL’. Upon opening the morgue drawer, they find the murdered body of funky, the town pathologist. Pinned to his chest is another note saying, ‘All will die, love, the Mafia.’

The villagers are a mixture of bereft, furious, confused by their attraction to Nazi ideology and aroused. They decide to kill one of their own on suspicion of being a Mafia member.

HOW TO PLAY

By this stage I will have sent you a PM telling you whether you are a villager or a Mafia member.

Players must now choose who to kill. This is the day phase. I will accept a majority vote in the form of a poll (at this stage, if you are chosen by 11 players, you will be killed). Once the day phase ends, we go into the scary night phase. The Mafia will collectively decide who to kill.

The Mafia have decided to forgo social distancing. As a result, all of the Mafia members know who each other are. Also, as a result of their decision not to socially distance, there is a one in four chance of a member of the Mafia dying of Covid-19 during each night phase. Whether a Mafia member will die, and who that will be, will be determined by me using a random number generator.

Amongst the innocent villages is an UNDERCOVER DETECTIVE. He or she has the power to ask one yes/no question each day phase and I will give them the answer. However, if the Detective dies, there will be no more answers. I will not confirm the identity of the Detective.

Also amongst the innocent villagers are two GUARDIAN ANGELS. One of the Guardian Angels has the power to shield one villager from being killed by the Mafia in the night phase by PMing me the name of the villager that they wish to protect. The other Guardian Angel has the power to foil one murder by the Mafia over the course of the game, by PMing me that they wish to protect the Mafia’s chosen victim. This Guardian Angel will not know who they are saving. If both Guardian Angels die, there will be no more night saves. I will not confirm the identity of the Guardian Angels.

One of the innocent villagers has a DARK SECRET. If the Mafia attempt to kill this villager during the night phase, they will discover the secret and, instead of dying, the villager will be blackmailed into joining the Mafia. If this villager is killed by the villagers during the day phase and is then revived by the Mafia, they will join the Mafia out of gratitude. Until they are recruited by the Mafia, this villager will appear wholly innocent, including to questions from the detective.

One of the villagers and one of the Mafia each have a MAGIC POTION. This can be used at any time to bring somebody back to life. If you wish to use your Magic Potion, please PM me to confirm.

One of the villagers has a bottle of POISON. This can be used during the night phase to poison a fellow player. If the poisoner kills a member of the Mafia, they will have done well. If the poisoner kills an innocent villager, the subliminal guilt of this act will cause them to take their own life during the subsequent night phase. If the poisoner is killed by the Mafia during the night phase before using the poison, they will find the poison and will be able to use it to kill a second villager.

Each of the villagers has been provided with a VILLAGE RANK. If we end up with an even number of players, any tied votes will be settled by the highest ranking live villager on the winning side.

The causes of any deaths during the night phase will not be disclosed. The pathologist is dead, you know.

There are several ways in which dead players can be restored to life. If you are dead, you may not want to reveal any information which you would be sorry about if you were returned to life.

Please do not mention or post screenshots within the main thread. If you choose to do so, I may choose to create a twist which will inconvenience your team. You may send screenshots in PMs, but BEWARE. There are large numbers of fake screenshots out there. You can’t believe anything that you see unless it came directly from me.

If all the Mafia die, the villagers win. If the villagers get to a situation when they cannot win, I will end the game and the Mafia will have won.

EXTRA

WARNING: This will take over your life for the next few days. It can be a bit of a head fuck. My main advice will be to enjoy the ride. If you think at any point, this is causing you too much stress, the option is there to pull out. I will attempt to balance the game so that anyone who pulls out does not damage their team’s chances, so don’t worry about that.

Also if you have blocked another player, I would seriously recommend unblocking for the duration of the game.
