Dear all,

I'm sure you'll all agree that Moopy has been a lifeline during the pandemic, we've all enjoyed laughing (and crying) together over the past year. I'm sure @Indie can give some more stats, but I'm sure this past year has been our busiest in some time.

Our wonderful new admin and mod team are looking to make some changes to the site to make things even better, @ZenGiraffe can provide more technical details. But essentially we're looking to upgrade the forums. The cost of this is approximately £129.

So we're looking for a bit of cash towards this.

There are a few ways you can donate;

1. By monthly standing order, even just £2 a month allows a poor little homosexual to get his daily ASFM/Eurovision allowance. Please PM for bank details.

2. One off donation - literally every little helps! Ay donations welcome. This can be done via Bank Transfer or Paypal. Please PM for bank/paypal details.

3. Sign up to our Patreon - link in the above tool bar. Please bear in mind Patreon do take a % of what we earn.

4. @Sheena is willing to sell nudes. PM for details.

So please have a think, I know times are tough and Moopy will continue to remain there for everyone regardelss of whether you can contribute or not, but if you can spare a few coins, let me know.

In short, we probably do. We could afford to pay it and nobody will lose out.

But the hosting costs aren't cheap, and we roughly stay level based on current income. It make sense for us to hold a buffer of cash for leaner times, as well as the unexpected (e.g. if we're forced to pay for assistance past the abilities of me/Zen/Kate, or if Amazon pull the plug)

Nothing wrong with rattling the tin every now and then too, especially after the great year we've had in terms of posts.
 
I've seen forums that use the new version and it really is quite nice, you can have stuff like quick navigation links, the little arrows in the corner to take you to the top or bottom of a page, in-thread bookmarks, all sorts.
 
Some things from that that look good are emoticons being searchable and autocompleting, and being able to upload videos (and presumably photos??) directly from your phone (correct me if I'm wrong admin)

Definitely to emoticons (and also Giphy integration to make GIFs easier)

I don't want to commit to the videos yet because I'd need to check any implications for our server and hosting
 
Sounds like a great idea, I'd be disappointed if you don't end up smashing your fundraising target.
 
Just spent an hour on the phone to the bank, so that I can make my contribution. It was a nightmare and "Thomas" was the least helpful person I've ever had the misfortune to talk to.

However, it is done and it was worth it.

I also will explore options for people to be able to OPT OUT of live threads entirely, but that won't be available straight away.

I'm not familiar with it, do we have to have a recipient account?

If so, there might be a minimum amount before they even send us something. Use Patreon, if you can :)
