Just to say my votes will come! I think I'll give these a listen tomorrow. We have some men round fitting a carpet and if I have this as my playlist I'll look like I'm cool.
If they come in while you’re sashaying around your living room bellowing Ultra Nate you might ruin the illusion.

I wonder if this arguably being the strongest so far will generate even more then.
People were definitely a lot quicker off the mark with their votes this time around.

Plus, I don't think there's one particular song that will hoover up all the votes this time round, just a lot of stuff that generally deserves to qualify.

Well in that case I'll start low-key losing my religion and promote this mega gem. A consummate freestyle artist, it absolutely shows on this extended edit where the hooks and ad libs almost never repeat the way they usually do on a 12". The singer I can only imagine has had her pitch raised artificially, but it's undeniable she can truly let rip. I do always think the lyrics could have been more daring to question her lover's sexuality: "I'm wondering if you love me, because they say you're gay" would have been ultra, and "if I opened up my bra, would you even know where to start?" would have finished me. Not to mention it features Madonna's play thing from Truth or Dare/Blond Ambition. Oh, the song: in the words of Lutricia McNeal's nemisis Deetah, relax and enjoy this ride.

I still can't believe the Bimbo Jones remix wasn't a hit years later when it was re-released. I wonder what became of her.

I bought the Bimbo Jones remix of this too, thought it would be a hit. She was an 80s freestyle singer. Not to be confused with Denise ‘DeDe’ Lopez from Sweden by way of Mexico who was around in the ‘90s and 00’s and had a couple of tracks written for one of her albums by Dannii Minogue who was also on backing vox.

Oh who had the Max Martin song that rhymes lover with no other?

What were the songs, Sex Dice and Karma Sutra? We were so close to being spoiled by Dannii it was unreal... much like the song we didn't get to hear (that I'm sure you know bfs was rather good - I forget their name, but the album was mined by Gina G and of course Movin' Up. Another favourite was Heaven Sent, which was just begging for a Trouser Enthisiasts tailoring).

Yes that’s the one, Lover was a pretty big hit in Sweden and she had a no2 with Turn You On featuring Pras Michel. Those are indeed the two Dannii tracks.

Seriously though, what is it?
At the minute, we're paring down our longlist of 400 dance anthems to a much more manageable final comprising 200 songs.

You can vote for 25 songs from the list on the first page, assigning 5 x 1 points, 5 x 2 points, 5 x 3 points, 5 x 4 points and 5 x 5 points.

Once you've dipped your toe, you'll forget all about that little singing thing from earlier.

Fine whatever, I might look at it. Chill out man.

8 sets of votes in now, and we’ve just been awarded the @cwej fellowship for services to listing things, so by casting your votes you really will be part of a historic event.

Still some beasts looking set to miss out on the final.

My votes will be TOMORROW. Because of the carpets being done, Iguana's joined me in the lounge so we couldn't sit here with music a-pumping. :(
