I figure that we can probably still correct your taste because you're so young. You are going to have go away and listen to 'One and One' until you recognise it as the work of genius that it is.
 
I've never heard a cover of this (except Kala's :side-eye:) and thank god for that, the classics shouldn't be destroyed.
 
I'm always mildly interested whenever I remember that C&A are still going strong on the continent :o

1996, UK/Australia, No. 1 smash! Speaking of Australians with gaping wide-ons, here’s Ginag (39). It’s almost inconceivable that a Eurovision song could hit the number one spot these days, much less one from the UK. This was the feat achieved by Ginag (39). Although she was a colossal let down on the night thanks to accepting vocal coaching from Gala in the week leading up to the grand final, she nonetheless kickstarted the UK’s brief but absolutely glorious imperial phase in our Eurovision history. As a reward, she had a Grammy nomination chucked at her, as well as a moderately successful post-contest career. She now runs a company called Gina Blake Staging, even though ‘Blake’ doesn’t begin with a G. This might be the last excuse I have to say Ginag (39) for the rest of the year, so here’s to GINAG (39).

I used to like Heaven, but for some reason I can't stand it now. Maybe the singer having the most stupid name ever is putting me off.

2001, Spain/Germany/Netherlands, No 1 smash! Spanish DJ DJ Sammy DJ teamed up with Yanou off Cascada and Dutch singer Do for this cover of Bryan Adams’ 1983 hit, thus heralding the era of pop-trance covers of 80s power ballads (Which lasted from around September 2002 all the way to March 2003). DJ Sammy’s real name is Samuel Bouriah, and he’s been at this DJing lark since 1984, when he was 15. Do would later release an updated version of ‘Heaven’ alongside Dash Berlin in 2016. The ’ask yourself why there is no freedom’ caption from the video was on the wall of my room at uni, because I thought it was well profound.

This is the second of my four nominations out, and we’re not even reached the top 40. Bastards.
