Moopyvision 2010-2019 Round 6: Armenia, Iceland & Moldova

Think I prefer Pasha NOW rather than THEN.

I was never a fan of Lăutar. The TOSSER hand choreography seemed right on the money in 2012.

5th: Lidia Isac - Falling Stars (123pts)

A nice little pop song here, possibly damned by being a touch GENERIC for a Moldovan entry. It definitely has more of an 'AC at Melfest' vibe, which was presumably its intended destination.

I think the inherent tragicomedy around this inevitable also-ran is best summed up in the fact that the dancing Astronaut (of course there was a dancing Astronaut) evidently forgot to take his lanyard off before going onstage.

4 x 3 (kevin7, Win The Game, David_5000, Win The Game)

Anyway Falling Stars is in many ways the HEIGHT OF WESTERN ART, it just had the misfortune to be in a round with about FOUR OTHER HEIGHTS TOO

6th: Pasha Parfeny - Lăutar (95pts)

Moopy, I must confess I LOVE this tat. Utterly gibberish lyrics - How looks that trumpet INDEED :ken: - mixed with a possibly problematic but nevertheless charming stage show with much CRAZY DANCING and hopping around like a Duracell bunny on acid. Musically it has that turbo-folk energy down too - it is essentially Ovo Je Balkan with the lesbianism swapped out for a hearty shot of big dick energy.

Fun fact: One of his dancing dollies is of course one Aliona Moon, who we'll be seeing again soon in a very different context.

2 x 10 (Wurst, Kevin)
1 x 0 (dmlaw)

Still love it.

If this is heading towards a Sunstroke Project top two then I may have to CUT A BITCH.

4th: Sunstroke Project - Hey Mamma! (127pts)

The return of the epic sax guy & co could have felt like a bit of an uninspired desperation move for Moldova after a run of NQs, but as things happily turned out they'd actually made the effort to come back with what is in my opinion - though not Moopy's - a much better song.

There were doubtless a few hearts in mouths in Chisinau and beyond when the 2017 votes came in and this (briefly) looked like it might actually win. As has been widely discussed, a fortnight in Chisinau may have actually been the death of me, and possibly half of this forum in the likely event of the stadium roof caving in or a shuttle bus accidentally driving into a 500ft pothole. It's kind of the way I'd like to go out though, so more of this please Moldova!

2 x 12 (Kevin7, Wurst)
2 x 1 (dmlaw, Zu-Klara)

Seriously though, I love the almost DEEN-ESQUE transformation from ano club queen to ex-homosexual poster boy between first appearance and second for SunStroke lead vocal guy :D

Still, TITS TO THE LOT OF YOU for (comparatively) rejecting that sultry wedding reception banger!

3rd: Aliona Moon - O Mie (146pts)

Now, if Moldova MUST INSIST on the occasional bout of uncharacteristic classiness, this is the kind of thing I can very much tolerate.

Penned by Pasha as a thank you for her sterling background work the previous year (that's him on the Piano), this is really quite lovely, with Aliona's vocal staying just the right side of shrill (JUST).

The stage show, featuring her evolving from a humble walnut whip to a majestic Sundae is really quite :disco: too. Somebody definitely threw a bit of money at this one (possibly the cash they had earmarked for those subway steps :( )

11th was a bit of a swizz really. Had she been on a bit later I suspect she could have cracked the top ten and not had to fork out for her own air fare home.

1 x 12 (Kalabaliken)
1 x 1 (Superstylin)

I’m really surprised Hey Mama did worse than the other one. He also looked much better the second time around.

Can't believe they're spending all our money on huge dresses, mobile phones and dogs and they've still got shitty subways. Get us out now.
