I have a bit of a weird relationship with Rina. she's obviously immensely talented but her songs tend to have really noisy production for my taste, and the vocal can often be a bit much. so as a result I only tend to like her more stripped back efforts, like Bad Friend, Tokyo Love Hotel or Lucid. I cannot stand XS.

I've definitely been sleeping on Alterlife though. a chorus!

Boy is such a shimmery slick DELIGHT! I feel it's almost a prototypical toe dip/precursor to the sound of Body Language. very funky n' fresh.

which discerning queen chose this?!

God the Child of the Universe era was so LIT! Her songwriting was on fire - easily her best record. the fact that a song like No Communication could be a bonus track... wig.

that chorus fucking soars and what a VOXAL! (yes! that's a word now!)

loving the HOT DISCONNECT between the club beats of this LeAnn Almighty mix and the hands-on-hips-in-a-sensible-pencil-dress nature of the artwork. the track goes all the way off though!

are her other dance mixes THIS GAY?

Desire is obviously hot as arsecrack.

if I CROSS THE LINE
if I RUN THIS REDLIGHT
gotta satisfy my DESIRE

I’ve just dug out the ‘Brave’ cd and am halfway through. I’ve definitely never played this before. It comes with a bonus DVD, lovely.

Brave is a decent enough album (if a bit mid-career lull) but there are many better songs than The Way It Is on there. Mile In These Shoes, the title track and the glorious Do It Well say hey!

I can't stop listening to that last song on the playlist today... I surprised my companion last night by getting quite WEEPY at a particular moment of it, I was surprised by how hard it hit me!

It really does make me feel nostalgic and old and sad and also hopeful all at the same time

Seventeen is wonderful. I don't know a thing about Sharon Van Etten but the song reminds me quite a bit of True Blue by Mark Ronson and Angel Olsen. love the proper raw instrumentation and powerful VOX. fave discovery of the lot!

I will take it under advisement! Maybe that's something I'll do after the Masked Mooper is finally out of the way :tongueout:

I wonder if there'd be an appetite for a 'songs that make you cry' sync playlist? If I ran it we could call it COB's Weepers :basil:
Well yes I’d say so.I’m more than willing to inflict some misery . It’s always a lyric that hits home with me if it zones in on something nostalgic or something I feel lacking in myself or regret.

As for Brave my fave tracks were the one that Ig sent, the Lady Gaga tribute track and the almost Amerie cover.

To be fair I'd forgotten about Mile In My Shoes. I think The Way It Is was the deeper cut though and I've always really liked it

I don’t think I’ve ever cried just to a song. It’s more about the song hitting me when I’m already in the emotional state to cry. There’s no song that could make me cry if I’m in a good mood

We can’t stop by Miley Cyrus kind of makes me want to cry, and it has nothing to do with the lyrics. For some reason the melody just hits me that way
