Mylène Farmer - Monkey Me (New album 2012)

I noticed her current single had a ridiculous run in France

4-69-108-149

The (very belated) inclusion of downloads have really done a number on her French chart runs. However it's bound to catapult back up again, now the physical versions are out (Mylène is pretty much the only French artist left ploughing on releasing CD singles and maxis in the year 2012). And then most probably plummet another 80 places the week after!

I'm still awaiting the physical CD but I've got the digital and it's a fantastic album.

And yes I'm going to see her live in Paris. Finally!

Time for a Mylene album rank:

1. Point de Suture :o
2. Avant que L'ombre
3. Anamorphosee
4. Bleu Noir
5. Innamoramento
6. L'autre
7. Ainsi Soit Je

I can't include Monkey Me yet because I'm only getting to grips with it.

I haven't got Cendres. I now my rankings may be controversial but I really never got into her early albums (apart from the singles); they just sound really dated.

LUNACY

1. Innamoramento
2. Bleu Noir
3. Ainsi Soit Je
4. Anamorphosée
5. Avant Que L'Ombre
6. L'Autre
7. Point de Suture
8. Cendres De Lune

The top six are all PRETTY ASTONISHING, though, and even "Point de Suture" I like...just feels like a step down to me

Avant que L'ombre is my usual Number 1 but lately I've been really into Point de Suture; it's probably just a phase.

I really need to spend more time with Mylène's albums. She's a fabulous singles artist but her LPs do tend to blur into a bit of a haze of tasteful french melancholia for me.

I know Innamoramento and Bleu Noir are my favourites. The former is just a lovely listen throughout and contains her best singles, while the latter really benefits from Moby's production for me.

I never picked up Point de Suture as Degeneration didn't do much for me.

4. Avant que l'ombre...
5. Anamorphosée

Album opens at #1 with the highest weekly sales of the year - 147,530. Here's the top 5 if anyone's interested in French chart stats.

1. Mylène Farmer - Monkey Me - 147 530 ex.
2. Les Enfoirés - Le bal des Enfoirés - 137 730 ex.
3. Johnny Hallyday - L'attente - 120 488 ex.
4. Céline Dion - Sans attendre - 95 569 ex.
5. Muse - The 2nd Law - 89 873 ex

Quite good sales all in all- she was lucky to manage the top spot, though- likely only be a week if loon sales have inflated it, but if sales continue at that level generally, she's got to be looking at clearing close to 300k by year's end, which is no mean feat in France these days....

Oh sorry, I didn't read that properly- I thought you meant that was the top 5 NOW- just been to mylene.net and realised that's the top 5 weekly sales of the year.

Still, sold more than "Bleu Noir" on its opening week, and that was on the back of a mega hit...

No, no, those are the top 5 sales weeks of the entire year - not this week.

Ah just saw your post.

This might just be my favourite album of the year.

01. Avant Que L'Ombre
02. Monkey Me
03. Anomorphosée
04. Bleu Noir
05. Innamoramento
06. L'autre

I don't own the others.

Well still loving this album, ridiculousness of "Love Dance" along with "Tu Ne Le Dit Pas" were initial faves. Then "Ici-bas" revealed its charms but right now it's ALL ABOUT "A-T-On Jamais" for me.

Alléluiaaaa

There was something on her Facebook that the album has been certified for sales of 500,000 or something..

Shipments. It's sold about 310k to date in 4 weeks (which is still QUITE GOOD in the climate)

This ended up in my Christmas pressie pile and have only played it a couple of times but I'm already enjoying it. Pretty instant. 'Bleu Noir' is my favourite Mylene album though.

New single is 'Je te dis tout'. I think it's the best track on the album after 'Elle a dit'. Gorgeous video too.

It's just all a bit MEH and SAME OLD SAME OLD again, innit? "Je Te Dis Tout" is ALRIGHT but it just feels like a MASSIVE step backwards after "Bleu Noir" threw a massive curve ball...

The video begins well but soon descends into the SAME OLD GUFF as well.

MEH

I have to say the whole new album has left me rather COLD.

Oh gays, I'm currently living for this remix of À l'ombre

That's much too BANGIN' for me these days.

The first 20 seconds gave me palpitations so I had to turn it off.

Only just watched it myself too. Wonderfully filmed of course and the ominous beginning has hints of the "A quoi je sers" video about it but I was hoping for something different than Mylène frolicking about with a horse like a 13-year-old girl. Ooh, something she's got in common with Mariah :o (along with the mentally unhinged 100% gay male fanbase)

Lovers, shall I splash out 130 quid on a ticket for Paris in FOSSE OR? I'm a bit averse to stadium affairs in case I can't see anything but I'm rather thinking FUCK IT

Oh she's FABULOUS live, worth every penny...

Come to Brussels and meet me instead, Sue :disco:

7 days till Tim3less Tour kick-off! Anybody else going to any Paris gigs (I'm going to the 14 Sept one)?

In other news, the title track will be released as the third single. No video.

Absolutely worth it!

I've just come back from Paris and it was bloody 9.99 Euros there in Fnac. Grab it! Well worth the £2.50!

My friend was getting two CDs but couldn't find two more so I stepped up. I ended up with Nelly Furtado's latest and Clare Maguire :D this is what happens when you rush me.

Solange's latest was there too. How DO you say her name, does it rhyme with L'orange, or Regina Phalange?
