Natalie Imbruglia - Algorithm (Album #7)

I was thinking the new SINGAL has not even touched her current top 10 and Upside Down was in the top 5 pretty instantly.
I'm also not sure R2 will touch Algorithm? I feel like they'd need a proper radio edit!
 
I only just realised today that she released the song Algorithm...! Playing it now on Spotify. The visualiser was interesting. 😃

I like it, agreed that her not-so ethereal timbre now doesn't exactly work with the style. I do like her spoken bits though :D
 
I thought she was saying 'keep on everything' before noticing 'the rhythm' 💡

My first thought hearing the intro was:

Algorithm (the song) is a bit too random for mainstream radio, as it is anyway. :D
Also she's listing star signs between the 'do you like to fine dine?' (Gemini, Scorpio, Libra, Virgo) though Nat's an Aquarius. 💡
 
Just listened to it again and I think it's dreadful now.

I liked the last album. The songs released thus far from this are not up to par.
 
I mean I do prefer Build It Better and Maybe It's Great in comparison (I think On My Way, my favourite of the three, was the 3rd single?)
In August 2021 I remember being somewhere in London at a great-aunt's house and waiting for the premiere (first time I was there for a YouTube video premiere) of this on my phone 🤩
 
I love Firebird, but I feel like it was a pretty safe album. Judging by the singles we've gotten and Just Drive (which she’s been playing live) I already know Algorithm is going to get a divided reception (just like Come To Life did), but it’s definitely gonna be a lot more fun.
 
"Build It Better" was sadly ruined for me when someone (very likely Moopy) pointed out it sounded like a Reform UK campaign theme, and I've never been unable to unhear it.

"What It Feels Like" was my keeper from that album. The whole record WAS safe and a tad dull really, but I appreciate it as an upbeat and BREEZY comeback from a singer who had clearly suffered from a major confidence issues in the decade prior.
 
I felt the same about Firebird (music, themes) in general when the whole album was released.
I liked that random one called River and also Firebird itself at the end. 🐦‍🔥
 
I Quit was a bit beneath her, I'm not surprised it was discarded.

Saying that, I could imagine Nat singing Deep Deep Down as well:

 
My word, I always thought Hepburn were dreadful and the lead singer’s vocals were always very unpleasant to my ears. I’m glad Nat passed on I Quit.
 
Great new interview on Classic Pop magazine. She talks about other songs on Algorithm but also about getting back the masters for Come To Life, the original version of the album and doing a proper reissue of it. It's aready out on their website.
 
omg. would that include the MYTHICAL ORIGINAL VERSION OF SCARS, as performed live once at an Eastern European festival?

I think she should scrap Algorithm and just put that out.

Bloody Chris Martin screwed up everything ? Love Want but Scars would have been a much better lead single. I still have the demo of My God somewhere which I loved, wonder if that is her preferred version
 
Left of the Middle as much as I adore it is half a Jagged Little Pill love story, no surprise there!
 
A quick move away from the track Algorithm which really really tanked. This is more like it. I hope.
 
I feel like she might regret the ALBAM title now given how the single went down like a LEAD BALLOON!
 
Is the full song available or are these tumultuous accolades relating to that 10 second clip and not at all disproportionate?
