Now let’s use all this solid foundation for a good album with some strong singles please

I’m not expecting huge numbers or whatever but I just want some nice proper Madonna songs from her please
 
Every time Madge tries to recreate the magic with a past collaborator she fails. We know how MDNA turned out following years of the fans begging her to collaborate again with William Orbit.

that was also 26 years ago. going back to Orbit for Music yielded a song that cloned Beautiful Stranger. Mirwais' work on American Life was good. but working with Orbit and Mirwais again in the 10s yielded mixed results at best. Voodoo is right that she's rarely given her best reuniting with prior collaborators.

You can't be selective and claim "26 years ago" and then bring up Beautiful Stranger (which was "going back" to a collaborator in the first place) being cloned.

She's actually not "gone back" to that many of her collaborators. Looking at a positive list:

Stephen Bray
Patrick Leonard
Mirwais (as you've agreed)
Orbit (on Love Spent and arguably some of the rest of MDNA)
(arguably) Shep Pettibone

Voodoo is also not right when they said, I quote:

The issue is Madge hasn't been at her best post 2005 full stop. It's nothing to do with her going back to other collaborators, she just hasn't had the same level of quality output that she did before.
 
Why would going back to a former collaborator be the reason for worse music? Are y'all saying she gets too comfortable or she loves beating a dead horse?
 
I think historically for her, when absolute lightning has struck, it's been when she's worked with someone new (or continued working with someone), rather than returning to someone she previously worked with. But it's a nonsense to say that it's always a failure when she has done so.

At this point, I think expecting her to release another Like a Prayer/Ray of Light style career highlight is optimistic in the extreme.

I'm setting my personal bar at a decent pop album with minimal cringe factor, and to be honest even that feels quite wishful thinking based on the past 20 years.

Also not fair. Madame X was pretty much your exact description.

But yes, it’s unlikely she’s got another LAP/ ROL in her, but she surely can do better than the inconsistencies of the last few albums.
