Tove Styrke - very nice although fizzles out halfway. Prayer is still outstanding.
Dagny - this is such a total left-turn for her. I think I LIKE IT! it's giving Haute & Freddy in its theatrics. would make a brilliant mid-album moment.
 
The Grace Ives album is very strong on first listen. Trouble is the focus track:



Fire 2 is the one that had me putting it straight on again. It somehow sounds like Sharon VE/Bruce and a 90s dance banger all at once:

 
Fire 2 is brilliant. I keep seeing press for the album but I'd never heard of her before.
 
She seems to have been around a while. I had a couple of older songs saved on Spotify, not that I remembered them.

Lots of press and glowing reviews for this album though. The physical release seems quite limited, I am not feeling inclined to spend that much on postage from the US.
 
I love Naomi Scott and the album sounds marvellous. Not a bad song.

Just coming back to this album, I think quite a few moopy people will like this. The track mentioned above plus my other highlights are Bound, Call For Me and Hellbent. And tonight I just had a moment to "Best Kind" with all its 80s cinematic gorgeousness.

It's a very understated album and might need a couple of listens, but it's a real grower.

EBTG's Tracey & Ben's son has been signed and is releasing as Family Stereo. His new single is lovely



More dream pop from Daydreamers. It's alright, but this feels like it was written for algorithms. Of maybe they just really like Harry Styles.

I really like Call For Me and Gracie. On initial listening I felt that not everything on the album stuck as it could... I do think some of the songs could do with a little more room to breathe.
 
I wasn't so wild about the previous single from Lucia & The Best Boys (featuring Lauren from Chvrches) but this one is marvellous:

Nothing for weeks! It has been rather quiet on good music in May to be fair.

Cigarettes After Sex giving more of the same, although I'm not overly fussed on this for some reason



One of my preferred rock bands, love their usual pomp, which this is althought it's also not hitting as hard as previous stuff

I really do love Channel Tres and not sure why he's not bigger to be quite honest



Lovely to see Lynda Dawn back but I've been following this Patchwork Inc outfit and they've also been producing some groovy throwback stuff.

 
I've liked quite a bit the last few weeks, though Spotify has been very annoying lately, often taking multiple attempts to add songs to playlists. Anyway...

Goldie Boutilier new one is on the boppy side compared to her album from last year:



Aaron Frazer sounds as good as ever over this moody number:



MorMor always makes me think of the long missing from Moopy ameraal. I think he is one of those artists for whom their best is their very early material but this is good and hopefully something more is finally happening if he has Celeste on his track:



Love this from Your Mate's Ex:



The spoken bits in this from Emei are giving Chloe Qisha but it is otherwise rather more frantic:



Romy sounds absolutely gorgeous, even if I wanted this to lift off just a little more:

Honestly if it wasn't for the high-def production on Your Mate's Ex I would firmly believe you if you said it was from 1979.

Love Aaron Frazer. There's lots of 70s throwback soul singers doing very similar stuff at the moment, beyond the breakthrough artists like Jalen Ngonda and Durand Jones.

Aaron Childs and Tom Bailey are my other favourites.





On the groups side, Mama's Gun's new album is fun for summer, and the new Leisure track from their deluxe is one of my favourite songs right now

The new Daydreamers album was a bit meh but this was favourite of the bunch



This was my standout track from the new Rhye EP



The new Diamond Cafe has a lot going on but it has something



Night Tapes casually dropped a new one and it is, once again, brilliant. Ethereal and hypnotic



This is not a Mariah cover but it is a fun bop. I'm not sure if the chorus sounding a bit like "Physical" is intentional or not.



I'm still fully on board with Sipprell's brand of easy listening neo-soul

The Leon Bridges songs are produced by Jungle in fact, and I’m so excited we’re getting a new album.
 
New one from Lizzy McAlpine is a bit disappointing - it doesn't really go anywhere. Hoping for more if a new album is on the way



New Le Flex is more of the same. He seems to be going more and more MOR, it's all very nice and nostalgic but almost missing something



Gotts St Park have found themselves the perfect muse in Celeste

 
I've been anticipating Rachel Chinouriri's return and the lead single from her second album definitely mixes things up a bit. She's working things out on the floor now:



I missed this second billed track on MorMor's recent single but it shows off his vocal so well:



A Hard Beat and a bop, though the new songs from Boy Harsher feel a bit lighter in sound than their old stuff:

Indie-disco group Supertaste have definitely been influenced by Jungle for this new one



Shaboozey and Leon Bridges do a song where the verses sound like the latter and the chorus sounds like the former. Definitely Shaboozey's best song to date (not saying much)



New Bonobo tracks have been a bit obscure but this new one really benefits from a strong vocal



Don't know if it's a new album - I was mostly disappointed with her last one, but this new track is gorgeous

One of my favourite vocalists in house today has a new solo track. It's fun for summer.



Isn't Karol G one of the biggest acts ever on Spotify or something? I know she doesn't have much of a following in the UK and I know nothing about her music but she just released a new album and I casually came across this - it's beautiful



New one from The Big Moon. Liking the multiple 80s influences, might be a grower.



The new Alabama Shakes has a lovely smooth groove

 
The vocal from Joy Crookes on that Bonobo is gorgeous, as per. It is a lovely laid back mood.

Liking that Supertaste one too.
 
Brother/sister duo Wasia Project, including him from Heartstopper. A couple of their recent singles have been pretty decent and I like this one, with just the hint of I Feel Love about it:



The album from The Womack Sisters is a good listen overall, though occasionally they fall into that retro soul trap of setting everything up in the verse only to miss the pay off with an underwhelming hook. Monster isn't as crazily catchy as If I Let You, but the atmosphere and vocals are just right on the money:



Ashe's current single is all quite silly and theatrical. By the end the drama gets quite frenzied:



This Red Wine Holiday from Fana Hues sounds pretty sweet:

Part 2 of the Jungle-produced trilogy which will make up Leon Bridge's new album has dropped, and I just love him so much. One of my favourite artists going today.

 
That JHJ/Jaki track is a fun little yacht rock pastiche. Definitely better than you would expect.

I don't think the JONES track is quite as good as the last one, would love her to release a full project again though. There have been EPs but her only album was a decade ago.

The new Leon material is so good. His (more commercially successful) earlier stuff didn't capture me, but the last album I really liked and two thirds of this one suggests it will be even better.
