Big ABBA vibes seem to cropping up quite a big lately, here from Blusher:



Some suggestion that Ralph might have got really good again here, especially in the second half parts that properly take off:

I'm not sure why Fred Falke has remixed this but I am very much in favour:

 
Nectar Woode had a radio hit with "Only Happen" which is great and she's come back with this catchy 90s-inspired bop which I'm loving



JONES has had some good music out recently but this mellow retropop is more commercial and probably her best single in years



The brilliant Four Tet cover Mazzy Star - a song you shouldn't ever really cover - but they've done a wonderful job



Rochelle Jordan with some more mellow beach house vibes



St Lucia remix The Strike who I discovered earlier this year (synthwave band) and they've made magic again



This wintry folk track feels a bit off season but it's wonderful so imma let it slide

God I forgot all about Ralph. I think I stopped following her on Spotify because she was incessantly putting out singles during lockdown and they all sounded the same.

Amaarae's last album is an insane masterpiece, almost every song a 10. I'm not feeling this one yet. it goes on forever and feels quite flat to me...
 
I had really been going off Night Tapes, but this is fucking MARVELLOUS



Carlos is one of lo-fi jazzy faves but this is more of a stomper for him so mopsy may approve



Speaking of jazzy lo-fi, Aaron Childs is someone I discovered recently and I'm liking. Summer vibes

My favourite Chinese singer Chace doing a lovely retro pop ballad - he normally does moody house and electronica so this took a minute but he really is great at whatever he puts his hands to


The new Durand Jones & The Indications album is gorgeous 70s soul, this is my current favourite with rising star Aaron Frazer, but the whole album is great



I was gonna put this in the house thread but with those late-80s house vibes (think Coldcut, Krush, Bomb The Bass) this might have more of a wider moopy audience

I'm not that surprised, though I would have loved more bops and ABBA homages. There are one or two other decent tracks but much of the rest reverts to her X Factor balladry. Pretending the album ends after MDE works for me.

This is FUN. Kiesza teaming with Peaches and giving us sweaty electroclash from early 00s, a bit like, well, Peaches



Olivia Dean is on a roll at the moment and seems to be a Gen-Z crossover with lots of chart success, which is surprising to me but I'm all for it. She sounds gorgeous on this



Lissie is back! This is nice enough but hasn't really grabbed me yet... but I hope it's the sign of a new album incoming



Hot Chip giving us some St Lucia sounds when St Lucia sound like Hot Chip



Anna Of The North always seems to flit between folk and synthpop and she does both beautifully. This is the latter and it's lovely



I love nu-jazz when it's accompanied by a soulful vocal, and this one has just that.

 
Lissie's recent cover of I'll Stand By You felt especially unneeded.

Liking Anna of the North, Hot Chip and Olivia Dean. I'm not quite sold on either of the recent Kiesza songs yet.

Jorja seems to be embracing dance music for her next album. Or maybe she's staying eclectic and messing about with sounds.



I thought Prides were done but nice to see them back. The usual retro pop



Say She She are committing themselves to a sound and I'm here for it.



Nice to have DRAMA back but I'm not sold on this. Very tame from them

 
I'm liking the garage feel for Jorja's recent stuff.

DRAMA peaked for me with that excellent EP a few years back, and then Feel The Same, but seem to be going further off the boil now.

Danger Mouse's collaboration with Michael Kiwanuka is apparently very much over, but he has found MorMor, wherever he was hiding:



That voice remains a thing of beauty.
 
The Aces have been listening to Chappel Roan and Sabrina Carpenter and the new album is even more poppy than usual. I'm a tad disappointed - there's nothing horrible on here but so far no major standouts. Although I do quite like "She Likes Me" and it got me wondering if they were fans of St Lucia... @FetchFugly

 
I wasn't expecting too much from the album but it is fun. The singles sound better as part of the album and it is all pretty solid, if a little  light... to be fair a deep disco dive was never on the cards.

She Likes Me does stand out a bit in terms of sound and I also like Spending the Night
 
I can't help but wish Cut/Copy would just refind the banger button once in a while but the new album is definitely an improvement on the previous one:

The highlight from Blood Orange's new album, which is predictably not an easy listen and is more of a vibe, but I do like this



Dunno who Ripe are, Cory Wong always pops up on various nu disco records with different artists but this is more new romantics sounding and the vocal is very Sting coded. I like it!



This is so catchy. It's a bit Glass Animals, but much better. Maybe closer to Tame Impala...

 
This time round definitely feels a bit heavier than the usual Yumi Zouma dream pop but the chorus hits pretty hard:

This one is even better than their previous produced by Chromeo track:



I'm not really familiar with the previous stuff from this guy but I need to investigate. Latin soul vibes:

 
Goldie's great. She has a way with words and telling a story. The album's really good.

I impulsively ordered her two previous EPs on vinyl and now wondering what kind of import charges I'll be landed with.

Waiting For Love is excellent! enjoying Drag too. both take me back to my circa '18-20 playlists when Anna of the North and Yumi Zouma featured often.
 
Love Leisure, nothing groundbreaking but a really lovely retro soul sound that sits somewhere between Jungle and smooth boyband.

First listen and there's some great songs on there. Title track and "Beach House" stand out.



I love everything this girl does, I don't know if she is just churning out songs as a session singer for various dance producers or whether she has plans on being a club artiste like Jessie Ware, but either way I'm here for it. It all sounds fresh and elevated...



Two slices of dreamy guitar pop below, I prefer Daydreamers as a band but I think the Whitney track is better here....





New Drama track is better than the last one but they're definitely missing the OOMPH from their early work...

 
New Thundercat is gorgeous - I like it when he just sticks to his psychadelic soul and doesn't go too abstract



This is the best Låpsley song in quite a while



A while since we heard from these and this is just absolutely fucking brilliant :disco: song of the week. New album please



HolyBrune is very Lynda Dawn / early Jessie Ware with that mellow 80s funk sound. New one is lovely



New one from actress / singer Naomi Scott who fell on my radar this year - she's released some good songs. New one is similar to above, very soulful retro pop



I had dismissed Kojey Radical as another grime/drill artist but I think I can understand why he was Mercury nominated for his first album now. The new tracks I've heard are great - soulful, melodic, deep. This collab with MNEK is gorgeous

 
The recent Låpsley album had some great tracks. This new one for the deluxe isn't hitting me yet.

This one from half of Let's Eat Grandma really jumped out at me this week. A little more straightforward with a big ol chorus:



I love the big synthy production on this:



A well trodden sound but still here for it:



Sweetly sung with a little bite and big of wig:
