A thread on why any MP supporting Braverman is a fucking moron and/or cretin:

Is David Davis running this time?

Her career is nothing but bin fires. She’s both incompetent and fanatic.

I suppose Rishi wouldn’t be the worst in the sense that he’s a terrible media performer who would probably crash and burn in short order.

Evil old PENNY is actually quite competent so we definitely don’t want her.

What is the likelihood of Kemi Badenoch making it into the top two?

The culture wars/pro-Brexit ticket sounds exactly the thing some of the membership would vote for. :zombie:

I think that crowd might be more likely to unify behind SUELLA, the way things are going.

I genuinely think she is the one to watch. Much of what she thinks and says may be objectionable to us, but it isn’t to her party, and unlike Braverman or similar, Badenoch isn’t stupid and has for more gravitas (including as a media performer).

Somebody is about to crash and burn early doors and I suspect it may be Liz Truss. If Badenoch made the final two against, say, Sunak or Morduant I suspect she beats them both.

This may not age well but in 2016 who expected that Leadsom run (who probably would have beaten May with the membership).

A shame. Wallace seemed UTTERLY DULL, although he may have been competent.

Voted against same sex marriage = a backwards thinker, so good riddance.

I think we're missing the fact that there's huge public support for gay marriage. Put one of those loons in charge won't help their cause.

Although they could easily drop that and focus on being shitcunts to trans people so.... eurgh.

That working class clip from Rishi is spreading like wildfire on Twitter :D

What a POSH TWAT

Indeed. The point is, is someone was so backwards/moronic/bigoted on something as obvious as same sex marriage in 2013 and 2014, this person cannot be trusted to make the right decisions in future debates.

For all we know, he’s in favour of capital punishment.

He’s a dud and should have no power or sympathy.

I don't quite see it with this Badenoch woman and I really hope you're wrong.

Her comments about trans-people for someone for an equality minister were foul.

On the plus side I think she could potentially alienate masses of the 2019 first time tories and I'd be quietly confident of Kier(much lesser of two evils) going up against her in an election.

She would be an electoral gift to Labour (as would Braverman) but she is more than capable of winning amongst the membership if she gets to the final two. It may be the case that Badenoch / Braverman cancel each other out and we end up with something like a Sunak v Morduant run off (neither particular darlings of the membership but possibly more electorally tricky for Labour).

Penny is quite well liked isn't she? I think she'd beat Rishi.

did we catch this clip of Teri dusting off her dance moves at Craig David's Henley Festival set on the day Boris resigned? :D

Javid and Truss expected to announce tomorrow, it's all a bit quiet on the Hunt front though

I like it when the nasty party are nasty to each other...

I hope it comes out that Penny Mordaunt was doping on ITV's Splash.

Why would the leadership rivals give dirt on their opponents to Labour? Surely they’ll just hold on to it and hope the dodgy candidate wins, before dropping the kompromat ahead of the next General Election.

I don’t think he has a prayer but perhaps I am underestimating the remaining sane remnants of the party
Arguably being too generous to him. Instead of corporation tax going to 25% next year, he wants to cut it four points to 15%.

Also he wants to spend 3% of GDP on defence.

Jeremy Cunt is not sane. He's an evil prick. He was an absolute horror as Health Secretary, one of the worst ever, and he's incredibly smug. He's always been 3rd on my Tory hit list behind Johnson and Rees Mogg, and that puts him ahead of a LOT of cuntery.

I feel like he took on the Health Secretary role at a time he knew an incredibly unpopular policy would come into play, and was just happy to be the face/scapegoat behind that policy. He doesn't have leadership ambitions, he just wants to play the politics game and be known for it. This leadership campaign is nothing more than a publicity drive for a narcissist.

I’m not a fan either but in the context of this leadership contest, he is one of the last remnants of the party when it was broadly of the centre. That’s also precisely why he won’t win.

Kicking off your bid to be actual Prime Minister with anti-trans culture war shit is deeply depressing

I have spent quite a bit of time on facebook recently looking for houses, and my feed is absolutely full of stories about trans athletes but also trans women in general. I've been shocked to see that regardless of the outlet posting the story, a massive majority of the reactions and comments (90%+) are anti-trans rights.

I know facebook is a bubble of older and less liberal social media users now, but I think it's clear that as the discussion around trans people has crept into the mainstream over the last couple of years, a huge number of people have set out a bigoted stance on the subject, almost all tied into "anti-woke" sentiment. so for a Tory party intent on igniting culture wars, it's easy bait.

Deeply depressing (as is the fact that she feels the need to ‘see off’ the discussion right at the start of her campaign - bodes very badly for the direction the entire race is going to head in).
