Niall Horan - Dinner Party + new album

how good was the tuna carpaccio if it changed his whole life?
 
For me Heaven is the second best 1D solo song after As It Was. I never tire of it.

Both are better than anything they put out as a group
 
He's biggest influence is Mikey Graham from Boyzone. "I've never really been into George Michael, Elton John or Bruno Mars" said the Irish songster to the Westmeath Herald in 2020 just before Lockdown.
 
Yeah he tends to deliver at least a couple of great pop songs each album even if they’re nothing groundbreaking. So mildly looking forward to this
 
Heartbreak Weather as a song is pretty good as well. Echoing above, 1 or 2 tracks per album is all I need from him, but he usually delivers.

On first listen the single appears to be no HEAVEN

 
That's quite pleasant but the last chorus going to a slowed down strum is a damp squib.

Heartbreak Weather had some good stuff but the last album passed me by a bit.
 
Hmm if Dinner Party (which grew on me a lot) did nothing that certainly won’t make any waves
 
It presumably being about Liam will get a fair bit of attention though
 
It’s perfectly pleasant, but meh. Randomly the last album seemed to connect to an extent but this just isn’t. Not that he’s ever been ahead of the curve. But maybe it’s just the point of diminishing returns.
 
I like End of an Era the best of the new songs. It is very smooth sounding in a late summer night way.

He did a more upbeat song on Jools Holland that he said will be the single with the album. It sounded decent but he was a bit drowned out live.
 


Boys Are Fun is a bouncy little slice of yacht rock and Monochromatic is quite boppy. Some very skippable ballads.

Streams are not so good but looks like he will be number one in the UK.
 
He looks lovely on the album cover, but I have no interest in listening to it. The couple of tracks I have heard I'd forgotten before they were even over.
 
He may as well have called it Garden Centre or Parents Evening or Sunday Brunch. Its so very very mid and urgh and This Is Who You Are Now. He is doomed to all of this, his increasingly diseased and destitute fan base as far from his grasp as they are from his daily thoughts.

it's good that nobody is overreacting to or being hyperbolic about the performance of a Niall Horan album
 
The singles grew on me and there are a couple of other nice songs on the album, but it's all just TOO "nice" and beige. It's fine and his fanbase will lap it up I'm sure.
 
Oh, even I’m not interested at this point. But will give it a passive listen this weekend
