Waluigi Stadium. An absolute classic of course. The dirt looks more like a wooden surface. Not really impressed sadly.
 
Singapore Speedway. The neon-lit city with the palm trees serving pleasingly retro vibes. A strong finale. Again, the water section is nice - c'mon and give us a new Wave Race already.
 
I've started my Metroid Fusion playthrough, what a fucking game :disco: I know it's a little more linear than some of the others, but I've always felt that was a plus for the almost survival horror vibe they went for. I hope they add Zero Mission to the GBA service as well soon!
 
The MK8 content is all objectively nice. But I am finding it hard to get overly excited given the game turns 10 next year, and much of it is restricted - somewhat - by the anti-gravity gimmick not being used in Mario Kart Tour where many of the new stages are being pulled from.

If I had to make a prediction about where the series goes next (which is largely futile, I accept) I do think the way the new stages are designed with more distinct multiple routes and courses that change each lap seems to be something Nintendo are leaning into quite heavily. My dream is still that they just go all in on making Super Smash Kart, though.
 
Yes, but just don't call it Smash Kart and maybe keep the non Mario universe racers off the immediate roster and roll them out with the DLC. I see the Tour tracks as a stop-gap compromise against the long wait. You can totally see the potential with the newer tracks and the fact that they are arguably holding back with them is perhaps a good thing. I sure do hope Pauline gets some megaton track to emulate just how wonderful her number on Odyssey was - can't believe that was so long ago now, but it's one of the most special Nintendo moments ever, a real cork-popping of a sequence. I also hope Sega go back to the All Stars Transformed formula as that was equally something else. Gosh, imagine if Diddy Kong Racing also came back next Nintendo gen - I would hardly need any other games.
 
What were the hot takes? Marvel as a 5 year old on twitch builds a sports car from wood and a fan?
 
It looks really fun, though I really wish it was on more powerful hardware so the visuals, especially falling from the sky, were as good as the gameplay
 
I’m going to spend so much time just playing about with the new physics and fusion elements that will be crap in comparison to creative people but at least it’ll be mine 🥰

I'm famously UNIMPRESSED by videogame trailers but even I have to admit that one has a great mix of pace, action and drama.

I spot some DUNGEONS :o and some BIG BOSSES. It all feels like a massive TOY BOX.

The story looks fairly BOG STANDARD which to be fair could be because they're trying to give away NOTHING. But honestly the "we need you Link, you're the hero of time" bollocks is a bit OVERDONE by now.
 
That looks absolutely epic! It looks like they’ve taken everything the first game did well and just multiplied it by 100. I’m hoping the few negatives about the first (there weren’t many) have had some QOL improvements.
 
It's amazing just how much they'd held back from the marketing until now :D The shots with Sidon fighting alongside Link are quite intriguing, I wonder how that'll play out in the game? Maybe you can pick a computer-controlled companion for the dungeons or something.
 
I thought that looked like training, he looks to be doing the same moves Link is and there are some audio cues that sound a bit like a tutorial?
 
My big hope is that they make horseback riding/combat a bit more tactile. On my plays through BOTW, unless it’s a specific horseback quest I tended to just do everything on foot as it was so much easier.
 
I finally cracked my Switch back open and succumbed to Kirby. Utterly charming.

I can’t wait to get Zelda and never finish it!

I'm not quite sure why, but I've just added a Switch bundle to my phone contract.

Suppose I'd better start thinking about actually playing games on it.
 
Not going to lie moopy, I'm struggling with it. It's all a bit too IMMERSIVE for me, and I've only tried a Mario game so far. I think I prefer my games a lot more 2D.
 
What are you struggling with? 3D Mario games?

There's heaps of great 2D platformers starting with Mario Bros U or whatever it's called, the Yoshi game and the two 2D Kirbys. And that's just Nintendo stuff!

It just really feels overwhelming. Like sensory overload :D

I've just been messaging a friend only a couple of years younger who has a teenage son who has one, and she's recommended other ones.

One reason I decided to get it was for my 6 and 8 year old great nieces. I bet they pick it all up without a second thought. Any recommendations for games that will appeal to them that I may be able to cope with greatly appreciated!

I really think Kirby Star allies is a great choice. It's super colourful and fun and very easy to pick up and you can play up to four people at the same time. It's 2D but admittedly a bit manic sometimes but if it helps my FAIRLY OLDER boyfriend can cope with what's going on onscreen and actually enjoy himself!
 
I think some games will have demos on the eShop you can try as well, unless those were only available pre-release? I definitely remember playing demos for both Star Allies and Yoshi's Crafted World, so have a look for those.
 
There's also Mario Kart but without trying to be too PATRONISING I think you need a certain level of dexterity for that. But it's obviously super fun to play with other people if you're more or less on the same level.
 
A lot of it may just be that it's VERY DIFFERENT to what I've been used to from a gaming perspective. My recent experience of gaming is just very basic things on a phone and tablet. My last experience of a console is the Megadrive in the early/mid 90s.

I also wonder if I'll find it a bit easier when I connect it to the TV.

Anyway, I've been watching a bit of YouTube on it tonight, so it very definitely isn't wasted money :D

If your last experience of gaming is 16-bits you're in for a treat with the Switch as it has hundreds of indie games that pay homage (/rip off) that era of gaming, from Contra to Donkey Kong Country to JRPGs and even racing games (check out Horizon Chase Turbo)
 
The Mario games look lovely, and I can't wait to find out more about this Peach game :o
 
Very curious how Vampire Survivors will run on the Switch, I've seen it chug slightly on my Xbox Series X when it gets very busy later on :o
 
I'm not sure I'll play it on Switch, but the Metal Gear collection is honestly such a dream for me.
