Norway 2021: TIX - Fallen Angel

Monument is clearly an outstanding song and deserves to win everything and give Alexander Rybak a fatal heart attack as he finally realises how you actually write a Norwegian song.

That said, there are questions about the staging.
- Why are they dressed as SS officers?
- What is Nick Tilsley's function?
- Why is it just the three of them standing around rather than a fire and light show so enormous it accelerates the melting of the polar ice caps?

Also the lack of a live audience didn't help, the whole show looked so cold.

I had said before yesterday’s show that I Hope KEiiNO don’t show their whole hand in the heat in terms of the staging. Five weeks is an awfully long time to keep up momentum so I think it’s wise to hold something back for the final and I hope they’ve done that.

Yeah, Spirit in the Sky lived on the insane crowd reaction. I worry that a lot of songs this year will suffer for the lack of audience hysteria, it really elevates some when you can hear the crowd singing along with every word.

This is a worry. And Monument would go down a treat with a euphoric crowd in the background.

Also what the hell was Tix
Sadly, Tix is the biggest popstar in Norway right now. ☹️

He’s really huge. He’s been a contestant on one of the most popular reality-tv-shows «Paradise Hotel», making him a household name. He’s also written songs for other artist. «Sweet But Psycho» is probably his most known songwriting credit.

I can’t help but feel that the Norwegians will get their game face on for the final and send what they think will actually be good for Eurovision - I’m not saying KEiiNO is it at this stage but I don’t think TIX will get it automatically just because he’s a big name.

First post in 8 years!

That's very good, it reminds me a bit of the synthwave song from one of the early ASFMs last year (Runaway by NINA).

None of this week's 4 duel songs are quite hitting the spot for me yet. Hero is quite good but I find her voice a bit off-putting. I think I prefer (the not entirely politically correct) Psycho, which has good verses although the chorus lets it down a bit. Nordlyset is kind of pretty but just kind of 'there'. My Life is OK is an embarrassment ("Some say that my music is bad / I say no way my music's OK" :manson:

KEiiNO climb to #29 on Spotify post-performance.

TIX up to #2 and Semi Winners Blåsmafian are at 35.

My life is no longer okay after listening to that dreadful Ketil SHITE

Knowing that Blåsemafian are only at 35 I’m no longer worried about Keiino being so low compared to TIX.

I would have expected Blåsemafian to get a much bigger boost from Saturday and seeing that they haven’t particularly makes me think the Spotify and MGP audiences aren’t all that aligned.

Not saying it’s Keiino’s for the taking - just that it isn’t Tix’s based on prior success alone.

Tiks is just not going to win - like Pingu says, getting a #1 single on a Scandinavian chart does not translate to winning one of their song contests.

I suppose Cicciolina (rip) helps prove that point too. Wasn’t it something like #1 in Finland?

I tend to agree. I'd be more concerned if it was in English, but it feels very much like a local hit.

There's still Rein to come though...

It's not an endorsement! But it's a modern pop song that would probably get a bit more jury love if he toned down that ridiculous stage show.

I'm fully at peace with KEiiNO's comeback being an inevitable disappointing second go-round results-wise. Doesn't mean I don't want them in the mix though!

Well after today and despite becoming a close personal Twitter friend of Keen-oes (sp?) I now want Raylee :D

Wasnt Monument the second coming just a few days ago?? :D:D
